Can't help but feel they already had a design ready to go that's closer to what we'd expect. But obviously I'm not in VFX so I have no idea what kind of resources it would require to input that model into the entirety of the movie.

 

The conspiracy theorist in me says they've had a different design all this time and released the bad one knowing the reaction. Now that they're going to " change" it, they'll bring in more people to see the movie because of the "fan service"

 

97% of the people who incessantly shit all over it online won't even go see it anyways, so who cares?

 

Yeah I'm not going to see this movie in theaters either way, so idgaf lol.

 

Stuff like this is one of the things I hate about social media, especially Twitter. People who aren't the ones being marketed to are on nuclear level meltdown status over how bad a children's movie looks and it's like... who the fuck cares, guy? It's all a huge fake narcissistic superior complex bullshit.

Ugh, social media is the worst invention of the last 20 years. Fuck all of it.

 

Where it provides 1 good thing, it spawns a million terrible things.

 

To be fair, if the story in the trailer itself looked good, I would probably be interested in seeing it.

 

Everything about this looks awful, and changing Sonic’s appearance only fixes a fraction of it. Assuming he will all of a sudden look perfect. But if I know anything about the internet, people are going to complain about the new design too.

 

Even if it looks closer to the original character designs, I'm sure there will be a re-backlash or whatever about "they should've stuck to their guns and not changed it, typical Hollyweird~~~" or some stupid shit.

 

I’m only interested because I love bad movies. Changing the design actually makes me less interested in seeing it

 

I mean... Yogi Bear’s design was pretty good. But that movie was trash. I think this will be on par with YB

Sure, I don't disagree. My main problem is 20-40 year old people losing their shit over the quality of a trailer for a movie made exclusively for children.

I feel like people who intended to go, would go regardless of how shitty sonic looks. They aren’t going to get new potential viewers by just modifying him. It is an odd move.

Are they changing the design away from what is shown in that preview that came out a few days ago...? I've been googling trying to find comparison of the designs and everything I can find looks the same...
