    I know the character design is the most obvious failing, & the most meme-able one. But, like, this looks bad in ways that have nothing to do w/ the misguided aesthetic. This sounds like an expensive, time-consuming way to put a band aid on a turd.

    I think it's pretty silly to compare this to people hating certain actors for certain roles. Those are real people. Sonic is a freaking cartoon lol.

    A better looking Sonic won’t fix a terrible script. If the movie is good then I can live with a bad design. If it isn’t then the design won’t matter because I’ll never watch it again.

    At the end if the day nobody is forcing them to do this. I haven’t even seen anyone demanding they change it. It’s just been a huge joke online for the last three days with all the memes and stuff. I guess that must have gotten under their skin. They could just as easily have said “wait until you see it in the context of the whole movie” or something and left it alone. But instead Fowler and Paramount are choosing to do this.

    If any animators’ lives are upended and negatively impacted by this, then of course that it isn’t ok. But if not, what’s the big deal?
