Can't wait for Sonic 4 to introduce lock-on technology that unlocks an alternate plot line for this movie.
This movie ruled. Waiting for the post credits scene now. Probably my favorite of the 3 now. I’m a sucker for the whole “there’s always a choice” moral. Plus it dealing with grief and loss always hits me harder. Was good to see growth from characters like Stone and Robotnik. As well as seeing various characters interact in new ways. And post credit scene is done. Very obvious reveal, but nice to see it confirmed. More thoughts as the thread goes, I’m sure.
Also, glad the mid credits ended the way it did. If they’d cut it a bit shorter, waiting 3 years would have sucked.
We're bringing our 8 year old son to see this tomorrow. I don't know which one of us is more excited.
this was alright, noticeably better than the last two imo. wasn't shocked by the crowd i saw this with being more amped by the mid-credits scene than anything before it
Very happy to hear this is good. I need something to take my nephews to and I did not want it to be Mufasa.
I enjoyed this. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was the first Sonic game I ever played so I was glad to see the similarities. The fights in this film were much better than the past films. Very fast and high energy. There were some scenes and dialogue that made me cringe, but I went in knowing there would be.
I appreciated how sincere it all is. There’s a genuine love for this nonsense on display in every frame. It’s the greatest movie my ten year old self never got to see. For me in my 30s - it’s merely an enjoyable enough way to kill 2 hours. Also weirdly, it kind of works as a touching sendoff for Carrey’s career if he’s serious about retirement
Took my son to see this (which has become a neat tradition between him and I where we always see them alone together) and we both had a blast. The climax of the film had me saying “this is so cool” to myself several times. You know what I really love about these silly, totally awesome Sonic the Hedgehog movies? They could be your run of the mill video game adaptations, but the people making them clearly just give a shit. Right from the get go they listened to the criticisms about the character design and corrected it, establishing a relationship between the creators and the fandom. They took the first movie about a fast, blue hedgehog and wrote a story about loneliness and the importance of human connection and found family. They sat down to write a third Sonic the Hedgehog movie and thought “how do we tell a story about trauma and grief and finding a light in the darkness and the source of the trauma is the tragic death of a little girl and also Dr. Robotnik tugs at your heartstrings in the third act?” Neat what you can accomplish with a tentpole franchise when you just give a shit.
