Breaking by Anberlin is an underrated song, imo. New Surrender was the first album I ever bought by them and that song definitely helped pull me in.
Hahaha true. I’d maybe put Blueprints under it, but I’m glad AP.net suggested I go back and listen to Cities
New Surrender is easily their worst. Blueprints is solid for a debit. New Surrender was very successful for the band. Doing Feel Good Drag Again ended up being really great for them. But I would take The Resistance and Breaking, and the rest of the new songs could disappear and I wouldn’t really care. I’d also save Disappear, but that’s it. Blueprints isn’t incredible, but I would mind if those songs were gone.
I’d pick Lowborn as worst Anberlin album — big letdown for me after everything in the Vital sessions was so good. I don’t think I can name a song on that without looking besides Stranger Ways (which is very good) and those other two albums are at least 50% good
Lowborn has so many good songs, even if the back half falls off a bit. We Are Destroyer, Armageddon, Stranger Ways, Atonement! I will agree it is not what I expected after Vital. Dark is the Way was my first Anberlin album release cycle as a fan, so that one will always have a place in my heart.
I used to hate that song. It has grown on me in recent years and I really enjoyed hearing it live a few weeks back now. Lowborn is low for me, but having done discography runs twice in this past year, it has grown on me a lot. I really like the vibe of the album. I’d put it above the other two, but only those two.
