Yeah in no way would I say Temple is their “best” but I most certainly have the strongest/most fond memories attached to it. Would be very hard to dethrone it as my favorite
Honestly... I think Temple of Plenty is the best. But this album was great, despite some qualms I have with the vocals. I haven't listened to First Day Back in years.
If I listened to their discography all when I was 21ish, TOP would def be #1, but at 28 hard to argue other than Prison
This album is so damn good, constantly go back to it, my favorite of 2019 and nothing in 2020 has touched it yet.
Thanks for bumping this thread again and reminding me how much I love this album. Playing this on repeat all day today
Agreed! This album is pretty much perfect and, even a year or so later, its still just as good as the 1st listen
Albums one of the best politically-centric records of the Trump presidency imo. Captures a sense of desperate hope and melancholic fight that sums up how a lot of people have been feeling. Not many alternative rock albums have nailed it to this degree
Anyone that hasn't heard this band Rich People should check it out. Their new record has a lot of sonic similarities to PoaH.
Haven’t listened to this in a while, and when I do it takes me right back some very vivid, apolitical memories, but yea hopefully it’s blasting from the speakers during the revolution.
I listened to this album this morning based on the thread getting bumped. Forgot how much I love it! I ended up listening to the whole Somos discography this morning. Such a fantastic and consitently good band...
So true. I listened to the first half of TOP on my drive today and it always brings back great memories. Used to listen to that record all the time driving to school back when it first came out.
There’s like... 5 albums that I’ve discovered in the past few years that got me as excited as I’d get about new music when I was in high school. Temple of Plenty is definitely one of them. I was obsessed with that album when it came out. It blew my mind. Still does. I can’t listen to it only once through. I always listen to the whole thing at least twice in a row.
Bumping this because I’m bumping the record and also looking for the lyrics to young believers if anyone has them. Thanks!
YOUNG BELIEVERS She was waiting she was patient But she could not deny Even in dreams she was hurt And, you have to think about it Nothing for us without us Charging down the wide boulevard Chasing it on the east side You can turn it around And nothing for us without us Nothing for us without us Dull star You are my dull star You are my dull star You are my dull star Nobody wants to face it all at once Nobody wants to face it all at once Even in dreams We know it’s right Even in dreams We know it’s right Even if I had enough money for the surgery I’d be afraid of the drugs that they’d give to me Young believers with murder in their eyes Feed them a steady diet of lead It would be a quick fix for them, they said You are my dull star You are my dull star You are my dull star You are my dull star Nobody wants to face it all at once Nobody wants to face it all at once Even in dreams We know it’s right Even in dreams We know it’s right
This is going to be one of those albums everyone looks back on in ten or twenty years like ‘damn, that really captured its moment in time perfectly’
