I never said that he was a stupid character. I said that he's not a good character in the movies.

Malnutrition. He'd been starved and beaten and his hair started falling out from the abuse. I bet you feel like a dick now.

According to the visual guide, Sagwa (the Wookiee in question) has balding fur from an illness. Years of labor on Kessel have taken a toll on his body and he “continues to selflessly try to spare weaker slaves from the most brutal mining duties.”

I loved Rio and was bummed when he died. His pronunciation of “Wookiee” is basically my favorite thing from the film.

    I like Rio.

Reminds me of one of my “uncles” growing up.

Rio was fun at first but during his death scene, he just kept rambling with on the nose stuff like, "you don't want to die alone kid" and I found myself wanting him to just die already.

It was/is. Especially when it was brought up during the TFA cycle. Yet someone still thought they needed to write an article about it.

This movie would have been a lot better if the lighting were a lot better.

I mean, it was dark in the beginning, but I could still see all the characters.

Yeah the cinematography was not great in this movie. But maybe I'm just spoiled since we're coming off the back of a Steve Yedlin-shot SW movie.

Finally saw this after being out of town. General reaction is I REALLY liked it. I had fun. Was constantly smiling, but didn’t quite love it. It was the first time in this new run of Star Wars where (story wise) I felt like I didn’t quite feel any SW magic in any part of the movie. I felt like I was watching a movie rather than being transported to a galaxy far, far away.

Personally I just don’t think this particular story was special enough that it needed to be told.

Rogue One, for example, I thought was a story that needed to be told. Not because it simply showed us how the Rebellion got the Death Star plans, because there could’ve been a scenario where the story they told wasn’t that interesting. But the one they told with Galen Erso, the Battle of Scariff being the first Victory for the rebellion and how Rogue One sacrificed themselves in that particular way needed to be told imo.

In this case maybe a particular origin story of Han Solo with the Kessel Run needed to be told, but not this way. Not this particular story that was told. In my opinion this story lacked anything extraordinary that really wowed me.

But conversely my problem with Rogue One is the characters which I didn’t really like at all minus Chirrut and K2 and in this I loved most of them. Chewy was fantastic (albeit I kind of wish he had more of the story). I thought Qira was going to be bad but I really liked her. Liked Lando despite agreeing with the Billy Dee impression at points.

But the most overwhelming positive for me is Alden as Han. I absolutely loved him as Han. No he’s not Harrison, but he not only did justice for the character, but actually made me love the character of Han even more than I already did.

His delivery and speech pattern was a perfect blend of what we knew from Han already and his own personal flair. His version was a little more optimistic, naive, trusting, and ambitious. There was almost a little Luke in him, which makes me love his connection with Luke in the OG trilogy a little more. We all condescend and even hate the younger versions of ourselves now that we are wiser and have learned from our mistakes. Him being so critical of Luke is almost like he’s communicating with his younger, idealistic cocky self. I love it.

Even despite that, there were flashes of him channeling the spirit of the exact Han we knew, the peak of that being his facial reaction and response to Enfys Nest asking him to join her Rebellion. I’m so impressed Alden was able to capture the elusive magic of one of the most iconic characters of all time. Alden was incredible in my eyes and would be totally down to see him as Han again.

After the drama this movie had behind it and probably unparalleled production issues where they almost reshot the entire movie and seeing how other movies with similar issues of director changes seem disjointed plot-wise, tonally inconsistent, or just are plain awful, the fact that I (and most) seemed to at least have fun with this one, buy into the characters, and have a generally accepted solid film is awesome. I praise Lucasfilm for being able to turn it into a solid adventure. For me personally it simply didn’t exude that SW magic and the story wasn’t anything extraordinary enough.

Also idk how i didnt mention this but as predicted this movie needed more Therm Scissorpunch, but Ill forgive it because the character who screams "MY LEG!" in Spongebob makes a cameo.

Idk if it was mentioned but even though R2 and 3P0 werent in there (which Im happy about), Anthony Daniels at least is in the movie as a character named Tak
