Specifically, it was right before they separated and she gut punched Han. While she did that she slipped him the dice.
I tried watching LTJ for a second time but only got 20 minutes in before I put something else on. Solo was actually entertaining, even if it wasn’t a top tier SW movie.
TFA was more pure enjoyment than TLJ, but TLJ took it further and really had some incredible highs. I give the nod to TLJ as I’ve never cried so much in a theater before. I put Solo in 3rd in the Disney era. It was consistently enjoyable throughout but it wasn’t incredible.
TFA loses a lot of points for me by being so so so similar to ANH, like it just left a bad taste in my mouth. And although TLJ is an absolute slog of a film it at least *tried* a lot of new things
Saw this today, lots of fun. A couple of great surprises. Glad I avoided spoilers. Man if I told 12 year old me that we would get a Star Wars movie every year or so, my mind would have been blown.
This is my least favorite of the new Star Wars films. I enjoyed it, but Val and L3 deserved better. Seeing this the week after seeing Fridgepool 2 left a bad taste.
Sorry if this has been brought up in the thread earlier but I don’t want to go digging through... the character cameo in the end I feel distorts the SW timeline... So that was Darth Maul that Qi’ra is speaking with? Say this is the same year as Phantom Menace. Anakin is nine years old. While the ages of Anakin and his son Luke aren’t established in each of the films, let’s say Anakin fathers Luke and Leia at age 21. In A New Hope, assume Luke is at least 18. Meaning from Solo to A New Hope 30 years has passed. Now let’s say Han is at least 21 here in the prequel. That means he’d be in his 50s by A New Hope... Harrison Ford was 34 when he appeared in A New Hope.... sorry if this is nit picky but it’s a pet peeve in terms of movie continuity
Maul was found to still be alive during Clone Wars and was a big part of the show. Solo happens roughly 10 years before A New Hope well after the prequels so the timeline isn’t broken.
Why even add the Maul cameo? Qi'ra ditching Han would have been enough to get the point across. It just confuses the countless people who haven't seen the cartoons
The likely answer? They want to add him into an upcoming movie and felt this was a quick easy way to reveal to those who never watched those shows that he is alive during this time. Now the general audience knows he is alive. Within the movie I was expecting it to be Jabba, but when Beckett alluded to him I knew whoever Dryden worked for would not be Jabba. I never would have guessed Maul, but it does fit with stuff he did during Clone Wars, so it does fit within canon.
Really, really liked this. Unfortunately we probably won't get a sequel, even though I think it deserves one.
Glad they also decided to skip the obvious "always shoot first" line that could've been there when Han shot Beckett.
