Pacing felt weird at times. But I’m glad I went in expecting a shitshow, because I was delightfully surprised at how much I ended up enjoying it. Glover as Lando was just as great as anyone would expect. Kind of surprised that Lando was the one who cheated though. Han cheating to get the Falcon was a thought I always really liked.
Sub 100 for the 3 day and ~110 for the 4 day holiday is absolutely disastrous for this movie. If this thing doesn't clear 500 world wide that is horrible; especially for the biggest budget Star Wars film. This is worrisome no matter how much you loved this film/the series
I think I'm the only one here who actually liked how Han got his last name. Just simple and to the point
We’re at the if a movie doesn’t make half a billion it’s a literal disaster stage of histrionics, my word are expectations outta whack. A fine return after the over budget reshoots will be fine. Everyone knows what happened here. And it’s still gonna be just fine compared to most movies and I think calling it a disaster compared to what we all expected is way over the top.
Until they get to the snow planet, I definitely noticed this too. Seems like they went a little hard on the sepia tone in post-production color grading.
Interesting. I haven’t seen it but I popped my head in today at work and they were on a snow planet and I thought, “either my bulb is dying or this is a really dark movie.”
No. Disney knew this movie was going to underperform for the budget it was given, it’s been a disaster for them since they fired Lord & Miller and reshot the majority of their work...including recasting Michael K Williams’ role. They just wanted to dump it and move on. Isn’t going to affect things for the franchise one bit.
Ughhhh I forgot about the Michael K Williams recasting. He would have been way better. Maybe you're right, maybe it's not as big of a deal and Jason is right that disaster is too harsh of a word. Deadpool 2 opening to 125mil is just whack so I don't even know what to think anymore haha
I'm probably in the minority that didn't care for the droid. L3 was good as a plot device and that's it. I enjoyed more of the screen time that L3 wasn't in.
I think this piece leaves out the disturbing fact that Lando was still willing to gamble the Falcon (Though, he did presume he'd win by cheating).
I wonder if this is the last time Han sees Lando before Empire. It makes sense if so given Han swindled him by sneaking away the card.
Decided to see this today. the theatre nearest me does reserved seating and recliners. first time trying that out haha.
I have changed plans to go to the movies after finding out the theater does not have reclining seats. It is now an absolute requirement lol
Haha. Good to know! The theaters in my old city were almost all first-come, first serve stadium seating, complete opposite here.
So overall I enjoyed it. Beginning is a little weak, but liked the 2nd half. edit: Also will never be able to go back to normal movie theatre seats again haha.
It was like a 2-minute drive for me. So I definitely won't mind doing that for future films haha (maybe even Deadpool on Monday). Went through the thread now that I've seen the film and some of the things in here made me appreciate the move more. I still think it's the "weakest" of the new SW films, but it's not meant to be an insult - just love the other 3 a lot. It's not a perfect movie, but definitely much better than I had anticipated.
