Funny that there was a recent conversation about the Marvel-ing of Star Wars, when the first Marvel Star Wars comics was on shelves before the first Star Wars film was in theaters, intentionally to market the film. Comic writer Kurt Busiek was tweeting recently about how he and others in his youth were excited for the first film because it felt to them like the first real Marvel film. Not that this is exactly the same as that recent conversation. Just a funny related tidbit of trivia.
Pretty much what I imagined. This film was unnecessary from the start. At least we have TFA and Rogue One until the Obi-Wan film.
Hope this does come to fruition. With it on her/LF mind and with the reaction Donald is getting in the role, gotta be all but a sure thing.
Judging from headlines, I get the sense that the first part of the film is like Eadu in Rogue One... that section of the film is very drab. NYT called the movie a Wikipedia entry. Even though that quote was misquoted, I think it’s a sure thing for Lando to get his own movie. People seem most hyped for him and L3. Also, there’s post-Return Lando in Last Shot btw. Haven’t had a chance to read it yet tho
Really enjoyed listening to the reaction of Solo from Vanity’s Fair’s Little Gold Men podcast. Love how Lucasfilm is surprised that so many critics have not been rating this very poorly ha! Sounds like they had low expectations too. Starts like 14:20 in Little Gold Men by Vanity Fair on Apple Podcasts
I'm surprised it took this long for someone to suggest having an LGBT character in this universe. Are there any in the Marvel cinematic universe? Glover would be a great choice for it.
Valkyrie as per Tessa but not explicitly in the movies, and Deadpool is pan but again I don't think explicitly in the movies If you ask Tumblr they're all gay
Deadpool is better at more explicit representation, especially after the sequel. Like, why couldn't Kasdan just make it more explicit in the script instead of just alluding to it after the movie is done? Do we think it's a Disney thing, or should writers be trying harder? Just thinking out loud here
Absolutely brutal reviews so far... hoping it means less SW to get better writers/directors in the long term.
