Honestly looking at the slate of potential Star Wars movies lined up for the next 10 years or whatever makes me want to barf.
Wonder how long well have to wait for or if well ever see SW Stories that are not based on existing events or characters.
I would hazard a guess that the first one is going to come out in 2020. Probably the Benioff and Weiss one, considering Favreau was just brought on and Johnson made it seem like his trilogy is farther off than that. Comparatively, we haven't heard anything about B&W's, not even from them, and we don't even know how long they've been working on it or if they were developing it in secret prior to when it was announced they were doing it.
Isn't that what Rian Johnson has been asked to do? I may be wrong but that was my understanding. Edit: above post is more informed than me!
i don't think i'll ever be all that bothered by the amount of Star Wars movies because it's not like i'm forced to watch them but i genuinely can't imagine getting excited for three of these. maybe it'll change if this first one is a hit for me.
I'll be shocked if they ever make any movies that are 100% removed from the main characters of the main story line. Like, to the point that other than some planet or galaxy names, they don't mention or refer to any person or whatever.
From the reports i remember that seems to be exactly what Rian pitched to Kennedy. No story or anything. Just that he wanted to do a story with new everything in a time and place we’ve never explored. She said yes. Time will tell but I think they’ll eventually get there. People need to realize the first movie was fucking 3 years ago lol The plan was probably always to use what people know from the past to capitalize off of that. Make money. Bring back the old fans who didn’t like the prequels. Get new fans. Build a foundation. Then get away from that and start exploring new stuff.
Sure, I've read those things as well, but I doubt they'll be able to resist some kind of tie-in or Easter egg kind of situation where they still reference people or something like that.
I just was talking about the SW Stories And yeah I hope Rians mainline trilogy is as isolated from OG stuff as possible
old Sith stuff could be cool too though hopefully if theres jedi like we know, theyre not a bunch of jackasses like in the PT
So much cynicism around these days ha it’s funny because I hear other people argue that they want everything connected and Marvel-ized. But yeah, @Dodger, you hit the nail on the head.
Yes it is absolutely true. It means absolutely nothing that Alden is signed on for 3 pictures. No big studio, especially Disney is going to have an actor sign a one picture deal for a huge blockbuster
I’ve completely blocked out the 50’s diner scene. I have literally no memory of it. Eh Star Was always has ridiculous on the nose names. Had em long before GOTG
I get what you mean but I was thinking more about narratively there’s no possible way they could even make a sequel for Rogue One. Literally everyone died lol A new hope IS the sequel. Jyns story is from a child to death too, so unless it was for a potential cassian/K2SO prequel it’s just hard to believe.
Oh no I totally agree with that haha. It's just there's no way Felicity Jones signed a contract that strictly stated a one movie deal and surely Alden did the same
it would suck if presumably its easier for corps to back out of contracts without penalty better than actors could who signed the same contract. or to some other obvious detriment to humble up and coming actors in the industry. imagine passing on work based on the assumption that youre booked up for production on a star wars thats not going to actually happen.
They wouldn't be able to do it without giving them a warning ahead of time. Like, at the time of signing. If that's the case, Alden likely knew what he was signing on for before he did it.
Star Wars having a 50s diner is good. Therm Scissorpunch is good. Multiple Han Solo prequel films isn't good.
