I don’t want most of my favorite directors to make Star Wars movies but I’d love the Wachowskis to have an unrestrained shot at one. Lord & Miller would have seen my number one pick though.
I actually think he looks the part. Just not sold on his acting. I wonder how much of Lord and MIller's vision was kept and how much was reshot.
In Clone High, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street, the Lego Movie, and 22 Jump Street, as writer/directors they’re 5 for 5 with unique, subversive, very funny and heartfelt movies. Particularly when they took on a large corporate property or franchise, they made sharp satirical movies that managed to not compromise on their style and humor, while also remaining sweet, warm movies. They’re very skilled, focused writer/directors and I have faith that a Star Wars movie by them would have been unique and different, funny, slyly subversive and self-aware, while not sacrificing heart or charm. It bums me out that Disney dropped them because I’m this world of generic Marvel movies and messy DC movies and (until TLJ) disappointing Star Wars movies, in a mainstream film climate of bland reboots and revivals, they’ve demonstrated the ability to take those kinds of movies and make them fresh and special.
“To me, this is a love story between Han and Chewie,” he says. “Their relationship has always been my favorite part of the saga, and the fact that only Han understands what Chewie is saying, I find a very funny possibility for comedy.” Cute 9 new images and insights from 'Solo: A Star Wars Story'
I mean Lord and Miller arguably the best comedic directors in the business right now, and have proven themselves in the action-comedy/franchise realm as well with the Jump Street films. Not to mention their successes as producers (The Last Man on Earth) and writers. There's no reason to not be excited over them.
I think he means in the Solo film. Edit, sorry was not about to copy everything, I just liked that Kasdan quote. EW on mobile is too much ha
I really really love Last Man On Earth but I see that they directed 2 episodes and are not credited as writers so for me Im just like "ok"
Wait, I didn't click through- Kasdan said that? He's the one who freaking gave Rey the ability to talk to Chewbacca!
Yeah, like I said, they're mainly producers on TLMOE. Also Will Forte's character is named after them.
I dont see the big deal. If they were creatives on TLMOE then Id be changing my tune. Lego Movie was a suprisingly fun and wholesome romp and thats commendable, but theres just not alot there with them otherwise.
I was generally just pointing out that, aside from their successes as directors and writers, they've also had success as producers.
Hasbro is supposedly releasing a Sabacc deck too. Maybe for the rumored force Friday event that is supposed to take place in April? Edit: Now the Q&A with Alden is up: 'Solo' Flight: Alden Ehrenreich on creating a portrait of a scoundrel as a young man
Okay, it's getting harder and harder for me to NOT get excited about this movie. Especially now it's looks like it got Ford's approval.
Haha Harrison Ford approving of something about a character he's spent decades making clear he doesn't give two shits about means nothing to me.
I like Alden a lot and I am willing to give him a shot. He is a better than the other actors who were in the running
