how is that a dumb problem? nice insult. edit: I'm still going to watch them and probably enjoy them. It's okay to be worn out on something. They just need fresh ideas and to get away from the Skywalker stuff.
I’m not worn out on Star Wars at all. I wish episode 9 was coming out sooner as I want to see where they take it all. I am so amped for Rebels to return and so sad that it will be ending. I listen to 3-5 podcasts on SW every week. I believe the next Thrawn book is out before too long this spring and I will quickly consume its material. I play a SW Game on my phone throughout the day. Not worn out at all. But this movie? Eh. I’ve never been on board with the idea. Han’s past has never been something I really yearned for. He was a smuggler and a great pilot with a great ship. I don’t need much else, tbh. But Lucasfilm clearly thought differently, so here we go. But I am worn out on a particular aspect of Sw. I’m worn out on some of the incredibly awful TLJ hot takes and the inane nit picks of it. I’m 100% done with that. So many of the complaints are so so dumb. I can’t take anymore of that.
I’m pumped for episode 9. I’m just not fully bought on the spin offs. Rogue One surprised me but it was still only decent and I haven’t been hyped for Solo since it was announced. I’m just not intrigued by the idea of going back in time to view events that we know the outcomes to. The only thing that would have me slightly interested in a Kenobi spin off is Ewan but I wouldn’t be excited for whatever story is told because I know the end of Kenobi’s story.
I'd be more interested in a Han Solo movie starring Harrison Ford that bridges the gap between RoTJ and TFA than any non-Harrison Ford Han Solo movie.
Kinda excited to see this now after watching the trailer. I've had zero expectations for this so maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
I don't have a problem with Star Wars being an annual experience, but I'm obsessed with superheroes, so what the heck do I know.
Echoing what's been said already. Not a very convincing Han Solo so far, visually it's impressive as hell, interested in Emilia Clarke's character and Lando looks to have been cast perfectly with Donald Glover.
Coming from people who forget TIE bombers have been a thing since Star Wars has been a thing. And also who apparently failed to realize that if the bomb bay, like the rest of the ship, has its own simulated gravity (which it does because the detonator falls from the top of the ladder), then the bombs would fall on their own and then the momentum would keep them moving in space despite there being no gravity outside the bomb bay. Like really, of all the nitpicks of TLJ this one was maybe the weakest.
I love how even though we've only see a few seconds of Lando without any dialogue, we are all in agreement that he looks like the best part of this. That really was perfect casting if there ever was such a thing.
Can't speak for anyone else but I think it's less how he looks (although he does look perfect) and more just total confidence that Donald Glover is a talented enough actor to rise above whatever problems the production had and still deliver a memorable performance.
I kind of want a Lando spinoff starring, written, and directed by Glover. Shit, he can do the soundtrack too.
It looks fine. It'll be fine. Actually the biggest issue I have is that I don't feel like this is Han Solo. It might as well be "random space person." I'll see it. Probably not opening night unless reviews are really good. But I'm not sold on the actor ... the titular character ... at all. That's a problem. No moment made me go "oh shit" either. Mission Impossible won the trailer drop battle.
Yeah. I'm with you for the most part. I like Alden alot actually, but yeah he doesnt feel like Han Solo here at all. Its a problem when I'm more stoked on what I saw with literally everyone but the titular character... At the end of the day though, give me scenes of the Falcon doing Falcon stuff and I am happy honestly haha
I've seen some people online saying "did you guys really expect him to look and sound exactly like Harrison Ford?" in defense of what we've seen from Alden. Obviously, no. Anyone who expected him to literally look and sound exactly the same as Ford would be idiotic (for the record, I think they think they look similar enough). Again, it's a very small sample size and it's possible that the lines we hear from him in this teaser aren't even the takes they'll end up using in the final cut (though, I think they probably are) so it's hard to really judge. But, I'd say the issue is that the attitude isn't quite there. I would expect a slightly different take on the character considering its A) a different actor and B) a young version of the character (10ish years i think?). But it should still feel like the same character. Take James Bond for example. All the different actors have had different takes and representations of the character, but at the end of the day, it still feels like James Bond.
