Idk. Ive seen some reporting saying its been purposeful to wait to give TLJ its time to shine so to speak. idk the strategy exactly behind what they are doing but I think they've had the trailer for awhile. I never understood why we HAVE to have so much stuff so many months before a movie is released. This movie is released in May. Thats 4 months away. They'll have plenty of time to build it up before then. Other than a poster and a short teaser trailer, the first legit full trailer for TLJ opened 2 months before the movie. After that they put shit everywhere. Im still nervous for this film, but I think itll be fine marketing wise. Supposedly itll come out this week and will be played before Maze Runner
Im actually oddly not worried about the story or the characters or the direction as much as I am as Alden actually pulling off Han Solo. Say what you want about the previous 3 films, I think they were all major successes. I think this one has the best chance to swing and miss because if we dont believe him as Han, arguably one of the best characters of all time, I cant imagine it working.
That's my concern as well. The script could be excellent but if I don't feel like i'm watching a young Han Solo then the entire film will collapse.
I'm with you both. I'm yet to be convinced I want to see another actor play such an iconic character. I'll give it a go though.
I didn’t realize the run time was released. 2 hours 23 minutes. Surprised it’s that long but hey I’ll take it as long as it’s good.
Goodness. I'm usually not one to make a big deal about run times but I'm not sure I'd want a 2 1/2 hour gangster/heist film (unless they're trying to make this like The Godfather or something, which isn't what it sounds like).
Actually I don’t think so. Google is showing it as that and supposedly that just happened recently cuz there’s some new articles about it. No confirmation yet
I just don't care about Han, Chewie, or Lando's back stories. And since I don't care about that story, I care very little about the movie. I'll see it, obviously, and maybe I'll end up loving it. But at this point, I just feel like it's a lame concept to even make a movie about. What do we really need to know that we might not know right now? And why should we care about it at all? That's how I feel at the moment.
Most of the time I'm real down and say this movie doesn't need to exist... then I remember we get Donald Glover playing Lando and I'm here for it
The more people try to stay hyped for this, the less interested I am. Sad how utterly not excited I am for this movie.
I’m in the same boat pretty much, but I am okay with being dead wrong when the day comes cause I love Star Wars.
Well, duh! I’ll still see it opening night. But I just don’t think this will be great. Too much BTS drama and lack of literally any promotion yet are red flags. At best we can hope that Howard made an adequate movie out of the mess he walked in to.
I feel like the only person not pessimistic about this film. I think it’s going to be a really fun time at the movies. Now that TLJ is moving out of theaters, it’s the perfect time for a trailer and for the promotion to begin... crossing my fingers for a teaser during the Super Bowl.
Honestly I could do with shorter hype cycles. There's no chance I won't go see this movie, especially how it releases almost on my birthday.
Disney has booked 30 second and 45 second time spots for the Super Bowl. My guess would be Avengers and Han Solo.
Chadwick Boseman will appear as T'Challa in a series of cross-promotion ads for Lexus instead of new Black Panther footage being shown.
by this point we definitely need a good 2-2.5min trailer for han solo, so i would imagine the TV spot we get for it during the SB would be to annunce that the trailer will debut on a certain date or directly ahead of all showings of BP. like it just feels too late now to just give us a teaser and get people hyped up for a full trailer release when the movie is only 4 months away.
Lol I totally did not realize this was only 4 months away. Not even a poster, huh? The “Solo” one doesn’t count.
In all honesty, I wouldn’t be surprised if the outcome of the film isn’t what was desired and Lucasfilms/Disney doesn’t want to showcase that.
