In the comics, Han has a wife prior to IV, but she is black so I don't know what they are doing there.

Never knew that. Is that still considered canon?

It’s from the recent comics , so yes. But it wasn’t a real marriage. It was just a part of a scam they pulled off together.

Yea, but it is before ANH, and ummmm... did you read the book? Haha don’t want to throw out spoilers of a great book more people should read.

That's cool I guess. I mean I was really excited for John Powell's score (much more than for the movie itself), so I'm kind of glad John Williams is just doing the theme. I mean he's obviously the king but it's nice to hear some variety too.

“I remember going on set one of the first times, he was like, ‘Yeah, I want to follow you onto the Millennium Falcon and do this thing,’” Glover said. “I was like, ‘I don’t think I’ve ever seen the outside go into the inside.’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, no one’s ever done that shot.’ As a fan I was like yeah, I was really excited. I know there’s been a lot of talk in the press about this movie but for me anyway, it was a dream and also it looks really cool to me.”

After Howard stepped in when Phil Lord and Chris Miller parted with the film, Glover said he did not reshoot much of what he had already filmed.

“Not a ton actually,” Glover said. “Not a lot at all, at least not for me. I think we’ve all never been faced with anything like that and I think he did a good job of coming and tell us he didn’t want to change what we were doing at all. He wanted us to remain confident in our vision. He just wanted to sculpt it in a way.”

I think I’m most excited for Donald Glover as Lando. I think he’s going to nail it. Also, some Lego sets leaked (of course, it’s always the toys).

I'm sure Glover's performance will be great, even if the movie overall is bad.

  12. i wonder what the opening week is going to look like for this. i can't imagine it'll do anywhere near as good as TFA or TLJ, and probably less than RO too, i'd assume.

This movie comes out in just over four months and there is no trailer or footage of any kind. Most promising.

I really hope this is amazing just to shut down the haters. Everyone is making such a huge deal about how bad it's going to be when the guy you all called the savior of TESB is the guy who wrote the movie with his son! It's mind-blowing to me that people are making such a rush judgement on a movie that, by all reports, has an amazing script. It's been said by a few people that this was the best Star Wars script they read. Of course, a great script doesn't necessarily mean a great film so we'll see. But all the doom and gloom is a bit out of place for me.

But this is just the other end of the spectrum. You are ignoring all of the BTS drama and issues, obviously pertaining most to the director(s) problems.

I don’t want this to be bad. I enjoy everybody involved. But it’s the movie I have had the least interest and desire for so far. With all the BTS drama, it would be hard to argue this is going to be any one vision and has the potential to feel disjointed in similar ways to Justice League.

I want this to be good, but I’d rather have my hopes set low and it exceed them than to hope for greatness and get garbage.

I'm a big fan of Glover, found Alden hilarious in Hail Caesar, and I feel like Lord & Miller's fingerprints are going to be obvious if what Donald said is true, so I'm cautiously optimistic. My biggest concern remains that I have just about 0 interest in character prequels that aren't likely to expand upon the "main" story very much, but ultimately I expect the movie to fall somewhere in the decent to very good range and that's enough to get my $12 in May.

I don't think anyone wants this movie to be bad. People are just skeptical given ... literally almost everything that's been reported about its production.

I think the main issue for me is.. what makes this movie important? What can we learn about the character that we don't already know that is important to the main story... like this is why he made the choices he made... then again if they just show how good of a smuggler he actually is, then the movie may make sense for me. LIke if hes ripping people off left and right and we get more information as to why Chewie is so loyal to him that may be awesome too.

could this be the first star wars movie without any force user present? Is there anyone rumored to show up?

Yeah, I just have zero questions about Han that this movie could possibly answer. Not every person in the world needs an in-depth origin story.

yea, but thinking about SEEING why he is so legendary in his early days could be really cool.

I don't think I am in the minority though, what I want to see is the force, force users light v dark in some sort of epic struggle.. the best way for them to bring that back in the universe is to use a timeline before episode 1

When I watch the original trilogy, I never get the feel that anyone thought of Han as a legendary smuggler except for Han himself. Like he's the one constantly talking about his greatness, no one else.

Obviously, Rey knowing him as a legendary smuggler in TFA breaks that, but I kind of wish they didn't have her refer to him as this well known smuggler.

Yeah part of Han’s charm is his braggadocio when he flies a ship everyone shit talks and is constantly on the run from people he owes money to. I get his legend being inflated decades later after he rises to prominence in the Rebellion but honestly a Han Solo movie shouldn’t be a superhero action movie, it should be a bumbling crime movie. Out of Sight/Kiss Kiss Bang Bang style.
