I’m still surprised the two original directors were able to work on the film and pre-production for many years before Lucasfilm was like “we don’t like your angle”.
Yeah the fact that Disney allowed Lord and Miller to waste their time, and Disney’s time/money, is kind of ridiculous. Like, whatever the reason, it’s entirely Disney’s fault that they let it go so far that Howard has to literally reshoot the whole thing.
No unexpected, but definitely a bummer. Like most of you, I was far more excited for their version of the movie than Ron Howard. We still have Donald Glover to look forward too though.
I just dont get why you hire them if you don't want Star Wars: 21 Jump Street I don't get the reasoning for this film needing to be a serious one.
While I probably would have preferred Lord/Miller’s version... a mish mash of the two versions could have been worse.
Also, with rumors about the Han performance not working out well, this makes total sense if both things are true.
I had my doubts about the Rogue One development. But that movie turned out pretty great. Will wait to judge until I at least see a trailer.
No matter how this movie turns out, the Miller/Lord version will probably stay a Hollywood "what-if" story for a long time. I wonder if we'll see any footage at any point down the line
This happened to me with last Jedi instead. I remember it was over halfway through the runtime and none of the main characters even appeared yet and I was like wtf is this shit
This isn't really much of anything, but it's something ha. "These shirts are the first products for the film created especially for Disney Parks and will be available through May 25, 2018. On behalf of Star Wars: Force for Change, 25% of the retail sale price of this product will be donated to UNICEF USA in support of UNICEF Kid Power." source
This was shared in the Last Jedi thread, but figured it should go in here too: Star Wars: Source Claims Disney Preparing For 'Solo' to "Bomb"
Sounds right. I can’t believe they haven’t pushed it back. It comes out in 5 months and they haven’t release a trailer or even a still shot.
That article is a fucking joke. It literally doesn't mention any new information that would lead to that theory. It just re-hashed everything we already know about the filming of the movie. I don't think the movie will do insanely well, but I'm sure it'll be fine.
This movie will do fine, it's star wars and it's got a great cast. Those 2 things alone will sell tickets, if it's a shit movie they'll still have the people's money.
also as far as I'm concerned, Disney has given me (3) excellent SW movies so far, so I will assume they know what they're doing, and give all future releases the benefit of the doubt until they prove me wrong, which I do not anticipate soon.
