Yea, but this is easily the least excited I’ve been for one of the new movies. And with 9 being pushed back it means a year and a half plus until the next movie. Having Rogue One marking the halfway point and breaking up the wait to 8 was nice.
I like the title, it’s simple. However “scruffy looking nerf herder” would have looked better on marquees
After Rogue One’s title, I honestly don’t know why you would expect anything that different from this.
I probably should have expected "The Han Solo Spin-off: A Star Wars Story" so that I could be pleasantly surprised.
I hated "The Force Awakens" when they announced that. I think we over analyze these things. You're probably gonna see it regardless of what they title it, so just stay psyched that Donald Glover is playing young Lando and everything will be OK.
Donald Glover playing young Lando is the only casting decision that I’m excited for. I haven’t heard good things about the guy playing Han but I’ll still see the movie if he is a horrible actor.
also, I feel like most of the people Han has come into throughout his smuggling career probably refer to him as Solo over Han anyway. Jabba and Boba Fett pretty much only refer to him as "Solo" or "Captain Solo", and I just thought of the "did you just call me Solo??" line and I got a chuckle.
I don’t mind Solo but I think this Star Wars story thing (which I guess this confirms they’ll do for every single anthology film) is lame.
A title is a title. My main problem is that I'm yet to be convinced that I want to see someone else play an iconic character like Han Solo. Rogue One worked for me as it introduced new characters and added to the story.
You should do what I do with the prequels. I like to imagine those movies were made in the Star Wars universe and are “based on a true story” interpretations of what “really” happened. This way I can justify the prequels as just an ineffective piece of art that didn’t capture what really happened. When I get to the books that will be the “real” prequels. Clone wars tv show is real and Matt lantern is the “real anakin”. In this scenario though this means ewan and Ian were just actors in the Star Wars universe, so then I made up that they were, in fact, the real obi wan and palapatine and the studio that made the movie just got them to play themselves in the movie. And the award for most asinine comment in the thread goes to me! Edit: actually fuck that. That’s a brilliant rationale. I’ll make the documentary based on these events one day.
I mean, is it really that much better? It's one word. They're basically the same. Lol jk. Very excited for the movie especially with Tag and Bink.
Tbf, there's still plenty of people who do the same for the sequels but replace them with the now Legends Expanded Universe canon. If Lucas ever releases his story treatments, then those thoughts would only be further conflated.
