I also want to express that I think music copywriting is a scam. There are only 12 notes, brother. (I beg and plead for microtone nerds to chill out and let me have this opinion)
I watched a segment on CBS Sunday Morning about this from a few weeks ago and agree that it's ridiculous. In hindsight it's wild how much George Harrison, for example, lost over "My Sweet Lord" having a very vague similarity to a song by The Chiffons. But back to the thread topic at hand - I am looking forward to hearing this whole album.
Wow, I borderline hated that song. Kind of surprised, since I really loved the lead single. I don't hear the similarities to "Valentine" at all (a song that is, fairly, already extremely indebted to '90s rock and Avril Lavigne).
Loved Shotgun. Jury is out on this new track - I dig the drum work that kicks in around the minute mark. Definitely has an interesting goth vibe going on. This is why I have a hard time pulling the trigger on pre-order vinyl. I want to hear at least 3 songs before making a commitment to a purchase.
Feel like Poppy is more...poppy. Tracks that @Craig Manning would not enjoy this one. I love both singles for different reasons, which makes me really excited for this record.
Song is nice, my least favorite of the three just because it doesn't really stand out against their usual fare imo
I mean this in a positive way — yep, it’s a Soccer Mommy song. Agree that this mostly sounds like it could be on Clean if not for the lush instrumentation she’s gotten into the last couple of years
Yeah, not a bad song! I'm just really into the more overt change in direction happening with the other two
