yep this right here is a good album

 

maybe I just have him on the brain but idk I thought of Dave Bazan/Pedro The Lion a few times while listening to this this morning, especially on "royal screw up" and "stain." I think they have a very similar vocal affect where they're singing very dark stuff with a very straight face and also the music has this kind of steady supportive quality to it that kinda reminds me of the relationship between the vocals and the music on like Control or something.

also the singles really are so good in the context of this, especially "Lucy"

 

Going in on my first listen now, really liked the first track tho.

I didn't even know this was a new release, I just listened to it cause of the Song Exploder episode and loved it.

 

damn, this is REALLY good

 

Also shocked this didn’t get BNM. Thought it was a virtual lock.

 

This is great. Some really bleak lyrics mixed with some amazing melodies.

 

Night Swimming is beautiful

 

Yeah I enjoyed the shit out of this. Really strong follow up to Clean.

This is just fantastic. I really enjoyed Clean but this is just as good if not better. Can’t wait to see her in April!

 

I don't know if this is better than Clean but it grew on me a lot on my third and fourth listens after having been underwhelmed on first listen. "night swimming" is my favourite so far

 

Yellow is still my favorite but Royal Screw Up is so good too.
