Extremely solid album with several standouts. After two listens, I really like it. Haven’t listened to the previous albums in a long time but this definitely feels more mature or something.
I am curious to see how often I return to it. I think it’s at its best whenever it switches things up and gets a little louder, although I do think Light On Our Feet is quintessential Snail Mail.
I thought this was good but my least favorite of her albums so far, will spend more time with it and see if that changes.
its pleasant enough but doesnt feel like snail mail to me, I dont know if its the production/voice change or what but the things that made lush and most of valentine unique to me seem to be missing.
I love this, the strings are lush (no pun intended) and the production feels grandiose to me. Love the first three tracks, love "Agony Freak," think "Dead End" is even better in context. I'm on "Hell" now so it's possible this last stretch could lose me, but I missed her songwriting and think she sounds great here. Wish I'd preordered!
Closer is lovely. The three tracks before are a bit of a weak point, but I really did enjoy the rest of this, even if it's the closest she's sounded to other artists (Soccer Mommy and Momma in particular). Probably going to do a discog run now.
This is actually my favorite album of hers after a couple of listens. A lot of these tracks have a 90's contemporary sound that just really connected with me I guess
Started a rewatch of Charmed with my partner recently, so a lot of my media consumption is coded in the late 90s early aughts and this Snail Mail record really fits so nicely into that pocket. My fav of theirs by a decent margin. Can't wait to spend many Spring days.
This is a more subtle album than Lush or Valentine. First listen felt almost dull by her standards, but I've kept wanting to put it on and now it's starting to edge out her first two. "Dead End" is my favorite song of hers to date at this point.
