I am listening to Control for the first time rn and I'm picking up on the sonic parallels almost immediately.
Yeah I agree I hear Pedro the Lion all over this, even if it wasn’t an influence there’s something about this record’s sound that’s like the logical progression of that sound. I really love how moody this. Pristine just wrecks me.
The vocal melody on “I won’t let you take for me a ride” in Speaking Terms is perfect. This album is full of little moments like that. It reminds me of Historian in that regard.
They sounded incredible tonight. However, that’s all the praise I really have. I hate to be that jaded asshole, but I miss when they were playing to like 100 passionate people instead of 500 people with little enthusiasm. This was the first time I’ve seen them where I felt so disconnected from the music and the atmosphere.
I like it but I don’t find myself coming back to it. I’ll need to listen once I’m off this Deafheaven/Jason Isbell/Death Cab kick.
Yeah I am a huge fan of Habit but was actually disappointed when I listened last week. I haven't felt the need to come back, but I'll return soon. The songs just blended together and she reuses vocal melodies a lot, which turned me off.
have you listened only once? this is an album where time actually helps distinguish the songs and it comes out feeling great
I'm honestly going back to this way more than I thought I would. I've been listening multiple times a day.
As much as I like this, I appreciate it more on a song to song basis than as an entire work. Habit had a better flow to it.
I've listened twice, both on release day, which might be why it all blended together. Will definitely try this again at some point just because I loved the EP, but I guess I expected the full-length to be a little more dynamic.
The songs on Habit are good but the band doesn’t sound anywhere near as tight as they do on this record. Getting a new drummer did wonders for them
