I have this thing that I can't explain or even understand where I don't have any desire to listen to any of Billy's non-SP stuff. It makes no sense I know, it's almost like the band is so sacred to me... idk haha. I should probably change that
Billy Corgan Setlist at Athenaeum Theatre, Chicago Sweet Jesus that second half of the setlist and encore. Kicking myself forever I didn’t go.
Wow, I would definitely go see that tour if he was coming to New England. I'm still a little bummed that when the semi-reunited Pumpkins did their three night stand here on the Zeitgeist tour I didn't see the night BC busted out Thirty-Three. Though it looks like this time around that one's only getting in there a handful of times.
I love age of innocence so much, I think it might even be my favourite SP song. It’s definitely top 3 for me. When Machina dropped that album and particularly that song meant the world at me at the time (and still does)
I probably come back to Machina more these days more than most. I just love that synth pop shoe gaze feel it has. Stand Inside Your Love, Try Try Try and This Time are 3 of my all time favorite SP songs.
Haha, Billy Corgan and Joe Rogan. I'm a little afraid to click that link. I love Corgan as a musician and feel that many of his flaws (at least from public presentation and his reputation from former bandmates) stem from deeper issues that I empathize with (if I may project). However, when the guy goes on Infowars and praises it for trustworthiness or talks about reptillian shapeshifters, I get a little ashamed that I look up to the man as much as I do. Rogan's show can be fun, depending on the guest. I don't have much of an attention span for longer podcasts, but sometimes his highlights are entertaining.
billy’s a paranoiac and an egomaniac which are i think the aspects of his personality that harmonize with alex jones
i’m thrilled he’s made up with james and d’arcy though, that’s incredible progress from a dude who i thought was just gonna be a bitter asshole forever
Yeah I'd never listen to his interviews on Infowars. I like to just pretend that side of Billy doesn't exist. But this interview was really good. Always makes me happy to see him in such a happy place. He pretty much owns up to the problems caused with James and D'arcy and it sounds like they're on great terms now (come on reunion!).
Just wanna throw it out there that I love Machina and Zeitgeist. "Stand Inside Your Love" is probably my favorite Pumpkins tune, and one of my favorite songs of all time. Also, I really need to check out the most recent solo album based on all the praise I've seen.
I still think Zeitgeist is their worst album, but it does have some gems (United States, Thats the Way, Tarantula). But I'm sure I've said it before in this thread, Machina is their most underrated album. And definitely check out Ogilala! Its like the spiritual successor to Adore.
Machina is completely underrated, you're right. I think it's aged really well. And yeah I think Zeitgeist is probably their worst album objectively speaking, but there's so much on there that I love and it was getting that album and Siamese around the same time that turned me into a huge fan, so I've got that attachment to it as well.
