I’m at their show right now and they’re so disappointing that I’m on chorus. Did he just alienate every decent sound guy in the business? Yeesh
can't speak to their current sound but I will say that one of my first-ever shows (and only-ever music festival) was at a festival in the Machina era and even teenaged me was shocked at how horrible their sound was. I left early.
There’s no detail whatsoever. Just 3 muddy deafening guitars with no layering or differentiation. The snare drum is so hot it’s distorting. And the setlist construction is baffling. One of the most disappointing shows I’ve ever seen from a band this size. Sales were so poor they upgraded our balcony seats to the rich people ones for free.
I imagine they're waiting to really do a marketing push when the whole record releases in April. These digital releases of Part 1 and Part 2 feel mostly like giveaways to the fans that have been following along with the podcast, and a way to help make this massive 33-track record feel a bit more digestible for folks. It pains me when I see people post reactions/reviews/criticisms of Part 1 and/or Part 2 when they are not the complete album. I suspect most people didn't realize that when Part 1 appeared back in November. I'm still really looking forward to listening to the complete record in April.
I imagine that, just like Cyr, I'll be able to take these three parts and whittle it down to a solid 10 song playlist.
I tried listening to this album yesterday. There’s a song called Hooray that is the biggest piece of shit song I’ve ever heard by any band.
lol yup I wish Billy would just focus on writing 11 bangers rather than 30 tracks with highs and lows.
Like, why exactly is Zeitgest unavailable on streaming platforms? I’m sure this has been addressed, but I just need the cliff notes why.
Billy isn't proud of certain albums in their discography and removed them from streaming himself until they can "rerelease" them with better mixes and arrangements.
