I'm a little happy it's not hitting Canada this time, since I already have more shows I haven't bought tix for yet.
Vols. 2 and 3 are due out in 2020 (although Billy originally said 2 would be out this year, he’s not always great with deadlines lol)
this is true. hoping the delay is due to work being done on the Machina reissue but I think that's false hope :(
...damn I'm only just finding out about "Gossamer", "99 Floors", "Mama" and all these other post-Zeitgeist live tracks... what in the world made them decide not to record these and do Teargarden instead??? these are goddamn amazing
Billy confirmed on IG that the Machina reissue is very much still in the works! I was really hoping for a Christmas release, but that seems unlikely at this point :(
"Gossamer" was incredible live! It is a shame a proper studio recording was never made (or released). I got to see them on the pre-Zeitgeist "residency" reunion tour in Asheville, NC and they opened with "United States" and later played "Gossamer" and remember being blown away by the raw power of both of them. Its a shame that the production values of Zeitgeist kind of killed a lot of that record for me because going into it, I think the band were really onto a great sound that was a logical progression from the Machina-era. But, that didn't seem to hang around very long... :(
yeah Zeitgeist is like genuinely one of the worst mixed albums I've ever come across in my life. It seemed like Billy was really excited about having Jimmy back, so he rushed out some stuff his drums would sound great on and would let us know they're still a real rock band. Its a shame because I think if he'd waited a year he could have given us one of the best ever Pumpkins albums. Imagine one release with "Gossamer", "Superchrist", "99 Floors", "No Surrender", "Mama"... I get chills just thinking about it
I believe I read somewhere that Zeitgeist was recorded and mixed through the same console as MCIS... so I have to believe that deep down, those tracks sounded good before the mixing and mastering butchered it! (IMO, the Zwan album suffered the same fate!) I'd love to see those albums get re-mixed and re-issued.
The more I listen to SaOSBV1 the more I hate how the drums are produced. Obviously Jimmy's a beast but the snare sounds like a cheap sample.
There's a lot wrong with SaOSBV1. The snare really bothers me also. The vocals sound super dry to me for some reason. From what I've read that's a Rick Rubin thing.
Yeah Rubin’s not my favorite producer, he’s also know for things like clipping and just not caring about levels. Might explain why the album is crazy loud, although that’s probably a mastering thing
That being said, the fact that Billy is producing the new stuff makes me a bit nervous as well haha. Don’t know if I’d prefer that or Rubin back
Yeah me too. I wish that they'd hire someone awesome to produce it like Butch Vig. How exciting would that be?
If they got Butch or Flood back that would blow my mind. Or even just like, someone know for being competent at this point hahaha. Now I’m dreaming about someone like Justin Meldal-Johnson producing them, that’d be amazing
I am looking for a few SP mp3's I don't have, can anyone help?? Am also posting this in the B-Sides thread....... 1) The 6 original songs from "If All Goes Wrong" - Gossamer, Promise Me, Peace and Love, Mama, No Surrender and 99 Floors 2) The last 2 songs from Teargarden (Vol 3) - Lightning Strikes and Owata 3) Does anyone have Machina 2 in a semi high quality version? My version sucks. Thanks in advance.
DMing you the songs from Teargarden! I only have the If All Goes Wrong songs from Youtube rips, not sure if there's a better source I haven't been able to find a good quality version of the Machina 2 songs, that's why I'm so excited for the re-release (it better still be happening)
I'm exploring their discography and I love Gish and Siamese Dream so far. Putting Mellon Collie for the first time... a moment ten years in the making but it's never too late!
Didn't really get as much into Gish, but perhaps I didn't give it enough chance. SD I love as well as MCATIS. I've heard Monuments, picies Iscariot (why can't I ever spell that right?), and machina...oh! And can't forget adore and actually may have heard Zeitgeist once (remember liking it), oh, and oh so shiny, but I still feel like there must be so many b sides or non album songs and/or I just forget the names of those fewer listened to records or those from teargarden. What else am i missing??
On Adore right now. I'm not sure I fully appreciate all of it so far, but the highs are REALLY high. Shame is literally making me transcend.
I love Adore! Such a sad album. For Martha makes me want to cry every time I listen to it. I didn't quite understand Adore until I had a few deaths in the family. Here is an awesome video of them playing most of the songs from Adore
