IDK How I pulled that one off.....We're on the floor for the SLC show. Gonna buy Vegas Tickets this week hopefully?
I stayed away from Machina for a long time because of the middling reviews and because I really didn't like the artwork, haha. But after listening I really enjoyed it! I think it got too much hate.
Nice to see an update (even though it’s not an ideal one) on the Machina reissue. Hopefully all the love he’s been seeing for it will inspire them to add Age of Innocence into the setlist for the new tour. I’ve definitely said it before in here but Machina is my second favourite SP album (most likely as I have so many memories around that album).
Basically he just needed to not put Glass and the Ghost Children on it and it would’ve been near perfect in my eyes (or just made that a 3/4min song). You could maybe lose Blue Eyes Bring Tears too if you really wanted to shorten the time.
That bums me out. Machina is so great. If I were to rank the first 5 albums it'd probably go: Mellon Collie Adore Machina Siamese Dream Gish Probably blasphemous to have Siamese that low, I know
i think the biggest offender on machina is "heavy metal machine," it's just so plodding. imo get rid of that and "blue skies" and machina is perfect (i love every minute of "glass" lol)
Move Adore to the bottom of that list and you’ll have my order. For some reason Adores never clicked with me as much as the others. Tbh though there’s not much between Mellon Collie/Machina/Siamese for me as I view them all as 10/10, 9/10s.
My favourite from Machina. It was played on Billy's solo tour on one of the setlists they were rotating between. I don't think I have ever saw a list quite like yours before! Siamese Dream & Gish are my top SP.
Haha nice. I mean it's like ranking your children, I love them all to death. I think Machina and Adore just hit me a tiny bit more personally than SD, even though that album is obviously a masterpiece.
Adore has a special place in my heart. I'd probably rank: Mellon Collie Adore Siamese Machina Gish But I love all 5. I think if you asked me again tomorrow my ranking would be different.
What do you guys think it's gonna sound like in comparison to their discography?! I hope its a mix of Siamese dream and Machina. Huge sound walls of Pumpkins tone! Guitars Guitars Guitars! Apocalyptic Drumming like Zeitgeist! Man....I'm so stoked for this.
Looks like they've significantly reduced the price of tickets for all the shows that weren't selling well. Range is now $20 - $100. Seems to have helped a lot of shows.
New interview! Haven't had a chance to read it yet..... Smashing Pumpkins Say They’re Happy Now. Can They Keep It Together?
Thanks for sharing! A great, anticiapred read. Most interesting piece: "Mr. Corgan concurred: “It picks up where this unit left off,” he said, adding that the fresh material saw him return to “the Zero character” that he had used to write some of the Smashing Pumpkins’ most wrenching lyrics."
Huh. I’d always wondered what happened with that record they never released. It sounded like it was shaping up to be a really interesting one, but if Billy couldn’t get his heart behind it then I guess that was the right move.
