Oh there's no denying that Billy is an asshole, but I just never thought D'arcy contributed much to the band to get excited/disappointed with her involvement in the reunion.
Well, this is exciting. I just want the chance to see Chamberlain play some Pumpkins songs live. Dude is so, so, so good.
Anything relating to D'Arcy is said to be that she's been hacked. I don't really believe much of anything that involves her lately. But, it would make sense she's not a part of it seeing as the photoshoot photo that surfaced. They could be releasing a single out of the bunch that were done in the studio, sure. It's not impossible. That, followed by a summer tour I can see happening next week.
Pumpkins released a statement about D'arcy. Basically says that she was 100% asked to be in the reunion but she just never showed up. It's no secret that she's had some drug issues since the SP originally disbanded. We don't know the whole story but I'd imagine she's pretty unstable.
I've been getting into arguments on other boards about this, but honestly IMO this is all on D'arcy. Have you all read the full text screenshots she posted? It makes her look bad, and not Billy. Basically Billy is sending her these long messages saying "look, you said you wanted in on this reunion. Well we're recording now, where you at?" She just responds "soon." Then goes on to say "Ok look, we've booked this massive reunion tour for the summer, you said you want in and we want you in. But we gotta start rehearsing soon, where you at?" She just responds "ok." Then Billy says "None of us have seen you in 19 years, none of us know if you can even play bass anymore, you're not showing up to recording and can't commit to rehearsals. Do you even wanna do this? If you don't think you can handle it we can get a fill in bassist and you can come out for a string of 6 or so songs every night. Whatever you feel comfortable with. I've already talked to our tour manager and he says even if you're not playing the whole sets he can still get you your own tour bus and come along for the whole thing." She responds by pasting these private conversations all over the internet. The only thing totally clear from those text messages is that Billy really wants her in the band. And even more exciting, this tour being planned is gonna be HUGE with a massive stage production. Color me excited.
Just found it. I feel like there is a big chunk of the conversation missing? Also, it looks like Jack Bates is playing bass I suppose. Smashing Pumpkins' D'arcy Shares Billy Corgan's 'Guns N' Roses' Reunion Offer
This whole thing is just incredibly bizarre I'm excited to hear new music from them for sure, but this whole saga with D'Arcy right now is just weird and puts a damper on everything.
Eh, I don't really care if she comes back or not so it's not doing anything to dampen my excitement haha
Also a little secret about me... I became a fan post-Zeitgeist so I don't hold any special nostalgia for the original band and tbh I think Jeff is a wayy better guitarist than James. Obviously I think it's super cool having James back and I'm excited, but I'd have been very happy with them continuing as Billy, Jimmy, and Jeff.
I'm so glad you said that haha! I 100% agree. Jeff can shred James under the table! Jame's rig rundown on Premier guitar is kind of embarrassing. Dude isn't using an amp on stage anymore with APC.
Yeah he is, I was just trying to make a point that I'm not sure bringing James back in will add much musically
All this drama is so unfortnate to surround something so important that awaits us this week. One of Billy's close friends said Billy & co were handing this to her on a platter and she just didn't reach out properly and then blasts these accusations. I honestly am just interested in solely what Thursday brings us!
Those texts got my really hyped for this "broadway style production" live show. The only bummer is Billy said it'll be the same set every night. Guess I don't need to drive all over the east coast catching as many shows as I can. I'll definitely hit up the NYC show (most likely Madison Square Garden) and make the trip to Riot Fest/Lolla (I have a feeling they're headlining one of those hometown fests).
Looks like D'arcy did an interview today also...... <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Working on transcribing the D'arcy interview, this is really something special!</p>— Alternative Nation (@AltNationNet) <a href="">February 13, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Man....I just realized my head has been shaking all day. Here some more fuel for the fire. This is the interview she did today. Smashing Pumpkins Bassist D'arcy Holds Nothing Back In First Interview In 20 Years
