That is a massive bummer. He was a fantastic player and really influenced me to pick up a double bass pedal.
Slipknot was my first show ever. Lost my mind when Joey went up sideways on the elevated horizontal drum kit. Huge loss, RIP
I remember finding them when I was in elementary school and All Hope Is Gone came out and just losing it over the drums. I’d never heard playing like that before. Hes a massive part of the reason I ended up playing drums.
Hope the rest of the band can hold on. The toughest part about a larger group is that there’s that much more invitation for chaos to enter through every day life. Paul. Clowns daughter. Now this. People who make base judgements about the metal community and the generally harder nature of the music meaning it’s just a bunch of meatheads can fuck the fuck off. There may be no bigger band in touch with their feelings publicly and advocating for people to get help and find community than the Maggots. God bless them for it.
When I think of Slipknot, my mind quickly goes in the direction of his drum solos. Watching him play as a kid was mindblowing, he was such an inspiration. RIP
