I also listened to it in full yesterday since I picked up the vinyl. Easily one of the best drum and vocal performances on any metal album. The way the chaos is captured is phenomenal.
You can never be so gutturally vicious in the long run but it's worth it for the captured performance on record, and the performances on that record are still remarkable. Metal that visceral is a rare and special thing.
Gently is up there with Purity as my all time favorite Slipknot track. The live version on Disasterpiece is god-tier.
I feel like it's going to be like Deftones and Eros. It'll be brought up every touring cycle and every time it'll be a little less and less done, and never be released.
Wow - an OG! I wonder how (if?) this changes their sound in the future. I never know what he and Sid are responsible for with their music as their additions are seemingly minuscule when compared the core instruments.
Kind of wild that these are 50+ year old dudes now. The mask gimmick has definitely worked in their favor in that regard.
