current mask era might honestly be my favourite. Corey and Tortilla Man's go insanely hard. Clown's is... really fuckin bad tho lol
Jay is great and no shade to him. He’s an unbelievable drummer but Joey was perfect for this band. Jay is technically near flawless. Joey always sounded like he was about to fall off the beat and that “feel” was so urgent.
After one listen this thing sounds great. Like it a little less than WANYK, but definitely more than .5 and AHIG Excited to finally see them live this week.
I know this goes without saying to y'all, but he's misrepresenting the Rage song to an embarrassing degree. That lyric is regarding racist cops. Listening to the government about masks, Covid restrictions, etc is a matter of public health & safety, and it's mainly coming from doctors who know what they're talking about--ugh this article is so gross
Is he? I clicked through to the original interview and the whole quoted passage just seems so vague and detached from anything that specific. I guess there's a bit of that in there but it pretty much reads like a drunk guy bored of online political discourse and haphazardly throwing out some completely undeveloped thoughts about escapism from it. It's so loose, I can't take it seriously.
yeah it's just very lazy surface-level criticism, like taking safety measures with your fellow human is the same thing as violating curfew or whatever
Not gonna lie, that Revolver article has me going into an initial listen already a bit bummed that there's mixed feelings towards the album...
I mean, guy admitted he was depressed and rather checked out for the writing process. It sucks, but if you don’t contribute much, don’t be surprised when you’re feeling a little uninvolved when everyone else is full steam ahead and excited to contribute. It’s a lot like the Gore situation with Deftones. Carpenter was checked out and he ended up being a little bummed. If every band waited for every member to be “Hell yes! Let’s record!” I doubt we’d get any new music at all. That said, this new album’s amazing. The band sounds hungry and Corey is taking it up to a new level.
I respect the honesty. He didn't say it's bad, just gave some thoughts on it that artists usually keep to themselves for at least a couple of years after. That reminds me, I didn't finish listening to the leak.
