Yen has apparently been out overseas all day but as I type this still not out in the us.


Edit: apparently it went up on Apple Music overseas but later disappeared. So either they delayed it or it’s getting a world wide release sometime during the day today

 

After the Slipnutz disaster, Slipknot had to be more careful with who they bring on tour.

Definitely my favorite. Really dope track.

 

Easily my favorite of the 3. Chapeltown and The Dying Song are a little too Slipknot-by-numbers to my ears.

 

Maybe the album as a whole will grab me.

 

Song is good, sounds a lot like something from the last album

 

its alright but his voice is just really bland to me lately

 

3/3 for me. Love that scratch section on Yen

 

The raw sound to his vocals is taking me a minute to get used to on each track but I think as a whole album it'll go down more smooth. Definitely my favorite of the three since it sees them tinkering with their normal formula a little more.

 

I would kill for more Iowa studio footage.

Crazy to me that he didn’t fuck up his voice permanently recording Iowa

 

Maybe that's why his Stone Sour/Vol 3 screaming vocals are lacking so much

But, for real... his vocals on IOWA are the self-titled X 10000. It's mind-blowing.

Mick, Craig, and James have been basically sticking to the same thing for years at this point.

 

I'd argue the Stone Sour / Vol 3 mid-2000s screaming vocals are a particular kind of scream Corey couldn't maintain but were awesome in a different way, certainly wouldn't call them "lacking"

 

This album is super heavy, brings back the horror and weirdness, and they try some new shit too

 

Were those initial rumored tracklist times accurate? As in, was the closer like nine minutes long? Also, is there anything heavier than The Chapeltown Rag on there?

I didn’t see the initial rumoured track list; the closer is 5 minutes long. Heirloom is probably the heaviest track

 

stoked. still hope they release all the WAYNK outtakes one day
