Yeah, song is 6/10 for me. But it’s an immediate preorder as a former Iowa native. WANYK was such a masterpiece, it’s almost difficult to fathom how they could top it. But I can’t wait to see them try.
Really looking forward to this one. WANYK is what got me into them (I remember when they were big when I was in HS, but just wasn’t my style at the time) and what really clicked for me.
I actually thought the song was pretty good. Corey's harsh vocals still sound awesome, and I like the production on his clean singing, it's not overly produced. Riffs were good, drums were cool, was there a little solo bass fill in there? I dig it. Song structure wasn't super formulaic either.
Yeah I dig this. A classic melodic lead for them, but there's still some tasty riffs and licks inbetween clean parts. I love how most of the members get their own moment to shine. The bass solo was cool as hell, as well as the DJ stuff (?) a little bit later.
Dying Song isn't bad but it doesn't hook me in the same way that, say, Unsainted did. Maybe a little too much on the pop end of their sound. But I'm still very excited for this album. Was re-listening to WAYNK earlier and it's remarkable they put out such an album at this stage of their careers.
these songs are solid but they're not super grabbing me. hope there's gonna be some weird heavier shit following on from WANYK
It’s now maybe 7/10 but it’s still behind almost anything on WANYK. I’m not worried about them making more great songs. They’ve almost gotten to the Bad Religion place for me where I’m glad they’re still doing it and if they impress me with new offerings, fine. But they have such a wealth of amazing material, they don’t need more.
