Damned if they make 'another sleigh bells album that sounds like sleigh bells', damned if they make something different. All the reviews are devoid of logic.
Maybe I have to listen to this more, but the constant switches halfway through songs are too disjointed to me. Kills the momentum on many of the songs. Definitely their best album since Treats though. I thought the p4k review wasn't too harsh, similar to my thoughts on the p4k's The 1975's ILIWYS
gotta get on this. treats was such a big deal for me and a lot of my friends the first few months after it dropped but haven't spent much time with the follow ups
I'm very late to this but I'm so glad I finally decided to give it a listen. This might be their best album. I really liked a few songs from Treats but that was it. Then their next two albums just seemed like a poorer rehash of that album, so I wrote them off. But I'm really liking this one. Hyper Dark, I Just Can't Stand You Anymore and Crucible are so good.
I truly think this album is super underrated, I really appreciate them doing something different, but doing it really well. I think Reign of Terror was different for them, but not necessarily done that well. This one checks both boxes for me

You know what, I actually kinda dig the vibe. It's like, chill? But super interesting, there's a lot of little things going on in here, I think it's going to benefit from multiple listens
didn't actually, the press for it wasn't very convincing/the people i trust musically weren't pulling for it and there's been little pulling me back to the band. not sure this song did that either, haha
