This is probably the most I've liked a Sleep Token song. Still not a huge fan of his voice at times but most of it is really good.
“I thought I got better, but maybe I didn’t” In a great place right now, personally, but this part of the new single still hit me. May 9th is so damn far away lol
I love the idea of someone hearing the end of this song and going, "whoa, what the heck is that?" and seeking out more music that sounds like it and ending up listening to Deafheaven.
this is pretty immediately one of my favorite sleep token songs. i adore how it progresses sonically and the lyrics are devastating. so excited to hear this live.
really love this one btw They're at their best when they flex their pop/r&b sensibilities imo, if i want to listen to something more outright heavy the new Deafheaven record is right there
Caramel is great but man some of the TikTok content surrounding it is already really annoying. I think people are misrepresenting doxing and parasocial behaviors as the same as like, looking on the internet who these dudes actually are and finding old bands etc. People are acting like people looking up who Vessel is is this grand attack and people should be shamed (except them for making tik toks about it, hitting the pick me vibes Caramel touches on), but the anonymity and mystery of the band is what made them popular and blow up in the first place. It feels entirely natural to want to know who Vessel is and look for his old bands and videos on the internet. Looking into family members, birth certifcates, etc is the line.
I feel like this is their most personal song. He’s speaking right to the listener. This band is in my top ten, maybe five, but their fan base can be embarrassing.
So many people are grifting on TikTok about how disappointed they are in the fanbase, but it encapsulates Vessel's line perfectly from the song "Everybody wants eyes on 'em, I just wanna hear you sing that top line"
tracklist is slowly being revealed over Spotify and IG. here's the first 5: 1. Look to Windward (7:46) 2. Emergence (6:26) 3. Past Self (3:34) 4. Dangerous (4:11) 5. Caramel (4:50)
also the Japanese CD (dropping 6/25) will have 2 bonus tracks that will supposedly be released elsewhere later: Sleep Token Announce Japanese Edition Of 'Even In Arcadia' Featuring Two Bonus Tracks
yeah, not a fan either. no other information has been revealed on them, so let's hope they're not completely new songs. same
I really like Caramel. Much better than the first single for sure - just more interesting, dynamic, coherent etc. And yea... Sleep Token is one of those bands where everyone seems to be a diehard and just obsessed. I mean the whole offerings, and bracelets at the show and the vibe being 'you've gotta be REALLY into them to be here - no casuals allowed'. I mean, the tour sold out in hours and as far as popularity with streaming and national recognition goes, they're really not that popular. It's just if you know them, you're probably a little obsessed.
I feel like people want to seem in the know like its some secret club that makes them special to know who these dudes really are. It's not hard to find their names if you want, it is hard to do weird shit that seems like what a lot of people are doing. I just hope in the end we get some insight in Vessel's songwriting and thought process on the entire project as its just fascinating and they are really talented.
tracks 6-10: 6. Even in Arcadia (4:28) 7. Provider (6:05) 8. Damocles (4:24) 9. Gethsemane (6:23) 10. Infinite Baths (8:23)
