frankly think this record rules
This sounds NOTHING like St.Vincent tbh.
yes. not to say that her influence isn't there, but the idea that she has somehow drowned out their entire sound is so so annoyingly overstated
its a lazy comparison
I'm still waiting for people to shit on the album regardless with the whole Janet thing, I know they're out there
MAYYYYBEEE IM NOT
I WANNA GO ONNNN
this song reminds me so much of You’re No Rock n Roll Fun but yeah sure it’s like they’re not the same band anymore blah blah blah
Corin and Carrie does the current state of the world make you angry or horny
“The Dog/The Body” is an all timmmmmer. One of the best songs of the year.
Oh god this is so great. So cathartic. I really needed this.
I’m guessing 8.8 BNM. Only because it better than No Cities imo.
the biggest Annie Clark influence is definitely LOVE which sounds like the fucking B-52s which is incredible
This album is fucking awesome. St. Vincent was a wonderful choice IMO.
Why is this not getting more love around here?!
idk it’s absolutely one of my favorites of the year
Haven't listened to it yet, I need to hurry up. The knee jerk reactions online with the narrative around Janet leaving + St. Vincent's role are annoying me though
imagine thinking adding STV to anything doesn't make it better lol
listening now and just absolutely loving it
fun fact when I first started posting here I had a st vincent avatar lol
Sleater-Kinney: The Center Won’t Hold Album Review | Pitchfork
seems fair from my first listen
i’d bump up the score but the write up is good. i’m just glad they didn’t pan it lol
I don't think that was ever the danger haha, stoked to listen to it some more
yea I'd bump up the score especially based on how positive that review is, but numbers are just numbers.
This is absolutely ending up in my top list for the year, might even be #1
I love that this thread temporarily turned into a Ship of Theseus debate lol
