I get that. For me it depends what I'm looking for. I find Self Portrait more memorable, but I.V. kicks my face in. It's my "god damn it I hate vacuum cleaning"-record. Regardless, Last City is my favourite.
This band followed me on Instagram so I decided to check them out. Not really a skramz type band but thought some of you might enjoy them.
Self Portrait is great. I.V. is Loma's worst record by a long shot (unpopular opinion?). I dunno, I've loved this band since "Our LP is Your EP" and that little power violence phase they explored with I.V. just missed the mark for me really hard (and that time is also the worst they've sounded live, too). In other news, saw City of Caterpillar on Saturday night and man, they were so good.
Maybe it's the political situation, but I've been going back and listening to a lot of the old classics from this genre - if only I could find new bands that sound like/are as good as Yaphet Kotto, Off Minor and Hot Cross. Skramz is in desperate need of a 'revival'.
Thomas Schlatter from The Assistant/You and I has a new band and it's every bit as good as you would expect:
My favourites from the last few years are: Suis la Lune - Riala Trembling Hands - Self titled Shirokuma - Sun Won't Set (!) Rainmaker - Alienation Vi som älskade varandra så mycket - Den sorgligaste musiken i världen (!!!) Also Careless, Young Mountain, Heart on My Sleeve, all defunct. Most are homogenically post-rock tinged, but I don't mind that at all.
I was going to post about Shizune. New Ostraca songs from their split with Flesh Born I guess i'll check their EP
Will probably get the Ostraca split. I have a Bandcamp addiction though, and should have my PayPal-account seized.
