Loved this so much. Once in a decade kind of horror imho. Unlocked some memories of the toy room I had in my basement growing up that I was absolutely terrified of and would sometimes have to leave my toys on the ground and go running up the stairs.

I don’t have Tik tok, but my brother showed me a video about this film. I need to see it. I guess it’s out in theaters on the 13th…? Im in.

  4. Two people walked out of Skinamarink and one guy yelled "DID ANYBODY LIKE THAT PRETENTIOUS PIECE OF SHIT" at the end of the movie hahahahaha. Still five stars, still terrifying. So loud in theaters.

  5. That’s exactly the reason i don’t want to see it in theaters, and why I wouldn’t recommend anyone else to haha. I hate horror movie audiences so much.

  6. My feeling is that watching this at home is the best setting, but seeing it on a big screen in a dark theater with loud speakers must be effective in its own way too.

Idk. I liked the viewing experience of the theater. But hearing the audience outright insult the movie during and afterwards was a buzzkill.

  11. It’s like when they make a fart noise every time there’s a quiet part in a scary movie. So annoying.

100%. I think this needed to be seen in a pitch black theater. Unless you were watching at home with the lights completely off, I don’t think it would hit quite the same.

Saw it last night in an 80% full theater, felt really lucky that something this avant-garde can still be seen on opening night with that kind of audience. A really good crowd, about 4-5 walkouts. One guy screamed “FUCK FUCK FUCK, GOD DAMMIT”, a truly great genuine moment of terror. So uncompromising, it never indulges the audience for a second, I loved it.

I haven’t said this about a horror movie since I was a kid but I might not see this because it looks too scary for me. I’ve had nightmares like this so I don’t need them fueled with a well made film.

My theory for the plot is the dad was on the phone in the beginning of the movie talking about the boy was sleepwalking and fell and hit his head, so is everything after that what’s in his head? I feel like there’s such little dialogue in the film, so every bit of it serves some kinda purpose..

crossed my mind, however I think the movie may be a little more obvious than that. Seemed to have a lot to do with inattentive and maybe even violent parents (specifically the father toward the mother and maybe even towards the children), and the anxiety that can stem from that inside of kids, coupled with the obvious horrors of being small and up really late at night, alone. But idk, just my take.
