Just listened to Shutdown for the first time. Fuck I've been sleeping

 

three songs in, living up to my massive expectations. novelist kills it.

and anyone thinking grime is corny is either hearing the wrong grime or corny themselves.

 

It ain't safe for the block, not even for the cops!

 

This album bangs, slaps, rips, etc.

Skepta and Pharrell at it: Skepta - Numbers Feat. Pharrell

Not as great as the others that are out but I can see this growing on me.

Was worried it might be a bit too much of the same after the first few songs but certainly starts to change up later on. The Pharrell track is so boppy!

 

I'm stoked Chip is on this. About to start my first listen.

 

Oh man and Text Me Back is incredible. Way more into the back half, because Numbers, Shutdown, Man and Text Me Back are probably my favorite songs I've heard from him. Only not crazy about the Corn-It Ain't Safe stretch.

 

First listen through. Man, Shutdown, That's Not Me, Lyrics, Detox all top notch tracks. Still don't dig Ladies Hit Squad.

 

lol the chip thing is such a letdown

 

Yeah when I got to it and it was just a voicemail of him saying fam a million times I was sad. I have been digging around Soundcloud all morning listening to Chip diss tracks. Is there a time when he didn't have a problem with someone? Trying to find the root of all of it but I cant. He really hates Tinie though.

 

i hope he gets into more beef because his bars are insane but yeah the tinie thing seems to be particularly personal

 

Grime to me is personified in "Lyrics". Dark electronic beats that you get see yourself getting rowdy too with a great flow.

 

This album was a lot of fun. One or two clunkers but overall I can see it staying in rotation this summer. Hope he continues to blow up in the US.

I like Skepta but Coming Soon is trash.

 

Damn, this just won Mercury Prize over Radiohead, Bowie, Anohni.

 

Big record, well deserved. Not that the Mercury Prize means that much.
