Yeah, depending on how humid it is where you live that board is probably no longer good. That being said, you could totally use it to roll around and once you decide you’re going to stick with it this time around go out and buy a new setup. I got my first Alien Workshop complete in ‘98 and quit skating when I went to college in mid-2000’s. Started skating again on a random nice spring day in 2015 and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made in my adult life. My knees and elbows will prob be dust by the time I’m 45 but if Tony Hawk and others can skate into their 50’s I figure I have at least 10 more solid years on the board! I’m also way better now than I ever was as a kid because I actually have the patience to take time to learn new tricks, just don’t learn them as fast as I would have as a kid if that makes sense?
Hey guys, I'm doing a solo two week road trip in a baby blue VW van in mid-July, starting in LA, and going up and down the PCH + exploring LA, doing tons of photography, and as part of this trip I want to hit up a few skate parks to try out doing some skate photography. Have any of you been to the below skate parks? If so, ideal day of the week to visit? Time of day I'd see the most activity/skaters at the park? Let me know; thanks! Actual van I'm renting (dog not included, haha)
And I 2nd the thoughts around the Tony Hawk doc; really cool from beginning to end. Was awesome getting a much deeper and insightful look into one of the icons of the action sports world. And Rodney Mullen is one wise mf'er, haha
Also getting the itch to pick it back up lol been trying to get in shape. It's been over five years at this point though, and I can't really splurge on a new board right now.
Not sure where to post this, but has anyone here been keeping up with what’s been going on with Bam? The more I read about it the more profoundly confused I get
Jackass Forever thread has been updated throughout, I think. Skateboarding-wise, I saw a video of him doing pretty well before realizing it was posted a couple of years back. In general, I believed he was removed from filming due to refusal to stay sober during production, sued and threatened Knoxville and Tremaine over it, and then recently went on Steve-O's podcast to talk about it. I don't think he offered much clarity, though tbh I haven't listened.
I watched the interview on Steve O's show, which was taped some time back in May when he was in rehab, but after that recording he fled. Supposedly he's back in The interview itself is pretty frustrating. Steve O tries to talk about his recovery the whole time but it feels like Bam wants to talk more about his business opportunities and getting back to normal
Don't think I ever updated the thread but I got a new board (Toy Machine) and am going to put it together this weekend :) excited to get back to riding around
My favorite skateboarding movie is still Grind. I used to watch that all the time when I was in 5th/6th grade. I haven’t skated in years, but a bought a Gold Coast longboard a couple years ago and will just cruise downtown on it. Pretty relaxing.
What's everyones favorite "unique" video part? Something like Richie Jackson's Death Skateboards. Putting together a video power hour for friends and looking to include some weird skateboarding
Really cool new Thrasher feature about EMB with Ted Barrow that hopefully becomes a new series on Thrasher YouTube channel:
i remember when he got his start and was just barely older than i was at the time, insane he's still crushing it
