I do appreciate the ambition and I like the music a lot, I just feel like it doesn't...like move far enough away from one sound to stay interesting for that long. It's very much like This is a Long Drive... (Which I have absolutely learned to love) In that way. I like long albums, but the long albums I like tend to pivot drastically (The 1975) or add in elements that justify the length to me (The Early November). But this is kind of a hot take after one listen so that could easily change and I definitely do want to come back to it.
I think you'll change your mind on that, almost every song is wildly different than the one before it but I dont expect you to pick up on everything first listen, keep coming back to it - it is a very rewarding record
man, song is too short. rot forever is still my #2 this year. incredibly excited that we're getting more music from them
this is such a spring record for me. rediscovering it a little over 2 years after it's release, and it's still as good. just an expansive, incredibly raw and masterful record.
