On one hand I’m bummed the Irvine imax is regal because I can’t use A-List but damn it was pretty smooth sailing getting a ticket.
This was really good, but it is annoying to read that they added a secret endurance test in a post-credits scene. Leave those to the superhero movies.
Sitting through credits is hardly an endurance test, but I will at least agree that not knowing which films have additional scenes mid or post credits is a problem.
I really never have had this problem ever in my life. I can relate to desperately needing to pee, but I am never needing to pee at a rate of once every two or three hours. If you have a medical condition, that's a different story.
Horror tends to be very thin on characters, but this film could have been twice as long in exploring these people. I didn't know anything about it going in, so other than the opening in the church I thought it was going to be a drama about building a safe community space for Black residents until it took the From Dusk Til Dawn turn. It's the best vampire movie in a long time but just calling it a vampire movie is a disservice. On the business side, it's great to see it doing so well after so much bad news at the box office. It's somewhat reductive to compare them, but there are obvious comparisons to Get Out, coming out at around the same point of the year and showing that there is a place for smart horror and social commentary. Just because Trump is President doesn't mean there isn't an ocean of people who can engage with themes and seeing people get eaten.
Just got back from watching this and loved it so much. but i didn't realize there were post-credit scenes. goddammit, ohwell.
Saw this yesterday. Pretty dang good. Kinda think we didn't need the first 5 minutes of the film at all.
Saw this Saturday night and I’m still thinking about it. This is more than a good horror movie, this is a great piece of American art and I stand by that statement. Wish I lived in a place with the cool setups, this was such a beautifully shot film and I wish I got the full scope of it. The music also really impressed me, I thought it was interesting to use the blues and traditional folk to establish the two sides of the conflict, it was just brilliant. Can’t wait to own this on 4K so I can watch it with the proper lightning, theater I saw it in had that shit too damn dim and I definitely noticed it. Easy top five horror film of the past 25 years, I’ll be outside if anyone disagrees and wants throw their hands around about it.

The only thing I remember her being in since True Grit was the Pitch Perfect sequels, and she was pretty wholesome compared to the others. It reminds me of when Tami Taylor started swearing in Promising Young Woman.
