i think it's time to close the books on this one. Final scores: Aquamarine: 7 Ghost: 5 Retrograde: 3 Afterglow: 9 This sees Aquamarine go up against Afterglow. No ties yet, this one would be really hard to choose. That said I'm happy to see ghost make its run and am quite surprised retrograde had a solid run of its own. But alas, time for our final: Aquamarine Vs Afterglow Let's maybe spice this up a bit. If you're so inclined, list your favorite part of your choice in addition to any other comments you may have. This whole time I expected to vote for The Afterglow, but I really think that Aquamarine has the strongest chorus on this record, and one of their strongest ever. I absolutely love the opening bassline. These honestly might be the best two songs on the record. I'm still torn right now on choosing a favorite. Aquamarine
Aquamarine This one is definitely the hardest choice so far. I could easily have gone either way. I think the intro to Aquamarine is my favourite part of either song though.
Aquamarine. I like Afterglow enough but it's way too ADTR-esque for me. Bummed none of the first 4 songs on the record made it into the finals
Aquamarine -that chorus is just so good, one of the best they've written. This was an extremely tough choice to make though.
Upon my first listen to this record, Afterglow is the one I went straight back to. But I remember turning my head and restarting the song after aquamarine's intro as well.
Aquamarine. That second verse is lyrically great, and it's such a fun poppy song, but I also get some slight BAAO vibes from the bridge and it's so theatrical. Also, bonus points for being one of the few breakup songs in this genre that manage to show anger and sadness without resorting to misoginy or blaming the other person.
Aquamarine One of my favorite Silverstein intros in their entire discography. The clean guitar harkens back to their early sound. I love the verses and they flow into the pre-chorus/chorus so smoothly. The heavy bridge is executed so well and while predictable the moment the second guitar comes in is done so well. The rightful winner for this album.
Aquamarine I just like Shane's vocals more in this song, plus I typically enjoy the songs that balance the catchy Silverstein and the heavy Silverstein. I never listened to this full album until this bracket started, so I'm glad we did this! Really solid album front to back.
Afterglow Probably don't have time to keep up with this bracket, especially since I didn't really care about IAAIEIT but someone @ me when TIHTWS comes up so I can create fake accounts to boost A Better Place to the win
Afterglow It was the song that caught me by surprise when I first heard it and I love it. Also, it doesn't deserve to be crushed :(
