So I’m a few years late but WOW - I love Dead Reflection. I used to be a fan of this band during their first 2 records but since then there has only been a few songs off each record I actually dig. I just listened to this record and I’m surprised at how much I love it. I would consider it their best record to date as well. Slight deja vu since this exact thing happened to me with Jimmy Eat World’s Surviving.
Exactly the same with me, though I did spin This is How the Wind Shifts for a while. When Dead Reflection came out I threw it on during a road trip and remember thinking "how did this band write their best record in the year 2017?" It's astounding, and it's led me to a whole new respect for them.
Dead Reflection is so good. I don’t even want to listen to anything from them before 2013 because everything they’ve released since is so much better than their earlier catalog.
This right here. I just hope the new direction isn’t pop. Anytime I see neon lights - I imagine it’s pop lol
super consistent band not worried about them putting out something good w every new release, brang it on
Shane said on twitter a while back, and I’m paraphrasing, “if you think The Afterglow is poppy wait until you hear the new stuff”
im curious for what that's going to sound like, they can probably pull it off tho and I mean if you want heavy, they just rerecorded all of their greatest hits to sound heavier than ever so idk if you can complain
This band had NEVER put out a bad album, and they're not gonna start now. If they're gonna do something different, then I believe they'll crush it.
I literally groaned out loud. "The Afterglow" is the only song I dislike/hate off Dead Reflection. I cringe whenever it starts. Bummer.. I guess my neon intuition was correct.
I still need to check that out - thanks for reminding me! I want to believe so I will still check it out.. I just loved the direction they took on Dead Reflection.
Even if they have some poppier songs on here, it's not like the entire thing is gonna just be a pop record.
It's a straight up bop, and the way Shane always changes the lyrics live demonstrates how indispensible it is to their live set.
