Current scores: Shipwreck in the Sand - 2 The End - 9 Looks like we may get to start Arrivals & Departures soon!
I went back and listened to Arrivals and Departures yesterday for the first time in probably 8 years (I didn't care for it much when it came out) and holy shit there are some bangers on there. If You Could See Into My Soul and True Romance are two of my favorites from their first four albums.
I'll probably get crucified for saying this, but "If You Could See Into My Soul" is probably Silverstein's worst song imo
I love that song personally but trying to speak as objectively as possible I think it’s got a terrific bridge at the very least. Love the intro too.
I'm not a fan of the chorus and the lyrics are kind of corny. It translates well live with Billy doing the chorus vocals though
This is somehow my first time hearing the b sides to A&D and Falling Down is so so good. Also this album may have my favorite collection of titles.
Anyways, no way Shipwreck is coming back so i will call it here. Your final score: A Shipwreck In The Sand: 2 The End: 9 The End takes A Shipwreck In The Sand (the album not the song). Props to Lights too for a job well done. The terribly underrated Arrivals and Departures is on standby.
THIS IS HOW YOUR PERCEPTION OF OTHER USERS SHIFTS: THE SILVERSTEIN BRACKET CHALLENGE For the uninitiated, these are randomly generated brackets (no seeding!) to determine a winner for each album, which will then face off in a Champions bracket to decide the best overall Silverstein song! Same rules as the other brackets: Rules: 1. Voting will take place over 10-24 hour period, depending on how close the matches are (if there's a wide margin too far to beat the round may be run ruled to not waste time). 2. You must vote on every match in a round. If you don't your other votes don't count. Just reply to this thread with your choices. I will not vote unless there is a tie needed to be broken. 3. Feel free to discuss why you chose one song over the other and why you like that song. Question others, too. It's what helps keeps these fun! 4. I avoid byes into rounds if I can, but sometimes it's necessary. These are randomly generated; I do not pick them. 5. Once your votes are counted, signified by me 'liking' your post, there are no vote changes. Choose wisely before posting! A word from he wise: People change in the brackets. Oh find the best song if you can. But be very wary, you might just lose yourself along the way. SILVERSTEIN FACE OFF: Arrivals & Departures ----- Round 1 1) Falling Down Vs My Disaster 2) Still Dreaming Vs Rain Will Fall 3) Here Today, Gone Tomorrow Vs True Romance 4) Bodies and Words Vs Sound of the Sun 5) The Sand Will Turn To Glass Vs Worlds Apart Round 2 Winner of 1 Vs Vanity and Greed Winner of 2 Vs Winner of 3 Winner of 4 Vs Love With Caution Winner of 5 Vs If You Could See Into My Soul May the Round 1 voting begin!
My Disaster- This is my favorite song off of the record, and SHOULD be a staple live! When I saw them after this record came out, I got to scream the bridge in Shane's mic, and this song translates so well live Still Dreaming- I've never understood why people don't like this songs. It's always been on of my favorites off of the record True Romance- The lyrics and meaning behind the other track are incredible, however True Romance is one of the strongest on the record. Sound of the Sun- I was so excited for this record after hearing this song. Tough choice because these are the two songs I've seen the most off of this record live, and they both translate pretty well Worlds Apart- Probably a top 5 on the record for me
My Disaster - total banger of a song that should be in Silverstein sets in the year 2017. Falling Down is the much better b-side though. Still Dreaming - Weird choice for me. I think this is the weakest single/big song Silverstein has had, but after listening to Rain Will Fall for the first time this morning I can see why it didn't make the record. Seemed like something was missing in Rain Will Fall. Here Today, Gone Tomorrow - love the meaning of the song, the riffs, and the beat. It all meshes well together Bodies And Words - I think I overplayed Sound of the Sun when they first released it. Bodies and Words is in the right spot on the record. Follows up Sun nicely with one of my favorite choruses on the album Worlds Apart - a top 3 on the record for me and seeing Shane play this acoustically with River Oaks was a great surprise. I can't vote for Sand because I think the toms sound like ass in the beginning
Just noticed that since starting this bracket Silverstein have moved up on my last.fm chart from 14th to 9th lol
Well these are pretty decisive... Falling Down: 0 My Disaster: 5 Still Dreaming: 5 Rain Will Fall: 0 Here Today, Gone Tomorrow: 4 True Romance: 1 Bodies and Words: 1 Sound of the Sun: 4 The Sand Will Turn To Glass: 1 Worlds Apart: 4
My Disaster Still Dreaming True Romance Sound of the Sun Worlds Apart First three match-ups extremely easy for me. Bottom 2 match-ups were tough.
