Altar/Mary is definitely a standout for me. Die Alone is as traditional a Silverstein song as there is and it's great. I enjoy this much more than the last record which was unfortunately very skippable for me (not bad but just bland compared to previous albums). I've been a fan since 2003 and it's awesome that they are still putting out solid stuff.
I put on Dead Reflection today after listening to MMM and I know there’s mixed opinions on this but it absolutely kicks ass
This is a top 5 album of theirs imo. We'll see how it fares against TIHTWS, Shipwreck, DR and DTW in the long run.
Yeah, there’s no song I outwardly hate or feel bored by and that’s impressive since there’s always at least one when it comes to a Silverstein record for me lol
Huge step up from the last album. They continue their streak of every other record absolutely slapping and everything else being a little dull (but still enjoyable)
Maybe it’ll take a few more listens but this bores me almost as much as the last album. I definitely enjoy some of the heavy elements, but for the most part these songs aren’t doing it for me. Is what it is, I’m still happy the band is making music and touring as strong as ever.
I think this is better than ABPTD and as mentioned above continues a truly remarkable career-long up and down streak. Not sure how it’ll slide in against the others in album rankings but I was much more intrigued by the non-singles than I expected to be. Still leans a bit too heavy into the pop metal formula, and I hate bankrupt, but otherwise has some fun curveballs. I’m excited to let this one grow on me.
This one makes me feel similar to how I felt about Dead Reflection when I heard it. I don't know what happened with the last record (and I do enjoy it, but it was nowhere near as enjoyable) but this one and DR show me how this band just keeps improving with age. Love specifically The Altar + Our Song. Feel like all the features were pretty great on this one as well.
This is pretty much where I’m at. The heavier songs are fantastic but don’t really make sense in the context of the album as a whole.
Yep the heavy stuff is some of the best they’ve done, but the melodic parts are just boring. It’s cool they are trying to branch out but it’s just super generic and if they are going to be generic, I definitely prefer the classic Silverstein sound lol
yeah this album was only a slight improvement over the last one to me. all of shane's melodies now are so forced and generic and i don't like any of them. unfort the 2nd worst stein for me only song i like all the way through is die alone
This record keeps getting better with every listen… this might be my favorite records of theirs. I did not see that coming after the last record. Much wow:
It’s like the end stage of the pop-metal, clunky lyric, heavy sounding but not really heavy, song trend lol
Dead Reflection is my favorite album from these guys. I can see this new one being right up there with DR because that was a GREAT first listen.
Exactly. I feel they nailed what they went for on DR. DR is a front to back listen for me. I didn’t get that from the last album, which is still good. But they nailed the shit out of the vibe and sound on this new one. It’s very consistent and makes me think the last album needed to happen so they could deliver this one.
First listen while working and it was enjoyable for the most part. Closer is very forgettable and a bad way to end the record imo
Completely agreed. I’m now very excited for the future of this band which isn’t something I’ve ever felt when it comes to Silverstein.
