The guitar work on Dead Reflection alone beats the last two records if you ask me. I also think it’s much more successful at being catchy without sounding (for lack of a better word) generic. Ghost? Retrograde? Lost Positives? Cut and Run? Yeahhhhh boiiiii, that’s the good stuff right there. Only track I hate and always skip is The Afterglow. I know is an unpopular take on this site but I can’t stand Shane’s vocals or lyrics and it breaks up the flow of the record big time for me.
absolutely don't think this band has ever sounded generic. poppier, sure, but they understand how to write a great song more so than a lot of their peers.
I don’t know.. Burn It Down and Where Are You sound pretty generic to me. They just put out a dubstep track they did (lol) and the two bonus tracks from Misery Made Me (Poison Pill and Stitches) are even more guilty of that label IMO \_(ツ)_/¯ I wouldn’t say this band is generic but the last two records have some tracks that definitely drift into that territory.
I wouldn’t go that far but i do really like the song. If you don’t like ABPTD, you probably don’t like The Afterglow and vice versa
I love The Afterglow and don't really like ABPTD at all. I wish that album was as fun as that song. Secret's Safe and Ultraviolet would round out my top three from the last few albums.
Cut and Run has been one of my least favorite Silverstein songs from the moment I heard it, feel like that’s the obvious cut on DR. I probably prefer aquamarine to afterglow these days but both are top tier. That album really is remarkably well rounded. Afterglow deserves the set staple spot so Shane can match the city in the lyrics to the site city. Always love that moment. Where Are You’s guitar work feels super generic and out of date but I think it works for the song and Shane’s vocals are fantastic on it. It’s become one of my favorites on the record. still can’t believe bankrupt exists. Hate that song.
'Dead Reflection' is a really great album because it definitely came from a genuine place of heartbreak and anger, and you definitely feel it. It's not as polished or cohesive as some of their other records, but it feels the most honestm 'Beautiful Place To Drown' has some great songs on it ("Bad Habits," "Burn It Down," and "Stop" come to mind) but it also has some of their least memorable tracks (I don't think I can even remember how that song with Simple Plan goes). "Misery Made Me" is probably my favorite album they've done since TIHTWS-- feels unique enough from past Silverstein projects, while still having that Silverstein soul and passion. Sam Guaiana locked the hell in on making the post-production elements sound as tight as possible. Although the singles aren't quite as catchy as ABPTD's, there isn't a single skip on the album in my opinion. (I'd even argue "Bankrupt" is one of the strongest songs on the album, y'all can fight me)
I wish they’d do a tour for Shipwreck. A lot of it has rarely been played live and the album is incredibly underrated.
i second this, i would've went to the wind shifts album tour but it didn't come to my state and the closet city was 4 hours ago so i didn't go, but yah shipwreck with all the interludes would be amazing live!
Got my shipwreck vinyl in the mail today. Completely forgot that I ordered this. Went to go add it to my Discogs, and this repress isn't even an option yet.
i tried adding it now but discogs is down edit: its back online and i finished my submission Silverstein – A Shipwreck In The Sand (2024, Translucent Forest Green, Vinyl) - Discogs
