I went to Vegas over Christmas and got a guided tour at the Punk Rock Museum from Shane. I was excited that he was doing it while I was there. He was a chill guy and the tour was better than I expected.
I don’t think its that different at all and they’ve had a pretty clear progression in how their sound has changed lol
I wouldn’t say it’s unrecognizable, it’s just a departure from the classic Silverstein sound. The last two albums have been the same so this isn’t coming out of nowhere. These songs are fine, but unremarkable and follow the radio friendly/pop centric metalcore trend that bores me to tears. The band is capable of much more.
Yeah of all of the bands to call unrecognisable Silverstein are an odd one. They don't really sound that different considering how long they've been around and how much music they've made.
After re-listening to their discography recently. (seeing them at the end of Jan) Dead Reflection >>>>>>> A Beautiful Place to Drown, the only reason I bring those two albums up is because they were back to back. Love Misery Made Me and I'm definitely looking forward to this new stuff.
Admittedly haven’t listened to this band much since Wind Shifts. Up until then, they were one of my favorites. This (and apparently their last few albums?) seems night and day from their first 5 or 6 albums. I don’t dislike it, but it legitimately sounds *way* different.
they've definitely changed! i just don't think this song is actually a big departure. last two singles, yeah sure.
just been hit by an example of how the pandemic has contracted my (and seemingly a lot of other people's, according to my social media feeds) perception of time... i remember listening to ABPTD a lot on my lockdown walks, and those memories feel so fresh in my mind. how is that album nearing 5 years old?
Probably a long shot but… anyone selling tickets for Silverstein at House of Blues Anaheim tonight? Looking for two tickets, and everywhere I’ve checked is wildly marked up currently. Anyone have any good recommendations of groups, etc. online to check?
um I like it more than the last two - the last Silverstein record I really loved was Dead Reflections
