There isn't a single miss on here. They really made something phenomenal.

I enjoyed this but not nearly as much as y'all, it seems. A lot of this felt like Leave the Door Open rehashes. Would've loved to hear more dynamic tracks on this. I think my faves are Fly As Me, After Last Night, and 777.

  10. This really needed to have perfect production to live up to the bar these two guys have set, and damn. Knocked it out of the park.

I like that if you take this for a narrative, it’s about someone that has a one night stand, gets their heart broke then goes gambling, skating and blasting rails.

This feels like an EP. It's so short. Enjoying it though.

There are so many incredible moments of musicianship here. Lots of obvious vocal pyrotechnics, but also stuff like that 80s Miami minor chord at the end of "Put On A Smile".

777 is the one for me but the whole album bangs

I’ll bite, what’s an 80s Miami minor chord? Love learning about those nuances

Haha I'm not speaking in theory terms, though folks could learn a lot from studying the chord progressions on this album.

For example, this song's in the key of C#m and it bounces back and forth between minor 7ths and major 7ths in really interesting ways. So after each chorus, the first chord they hit is the root note of the scale (C#m), but then the song modulates up only a half step after the second chorus (even though it seems to me like it's technically keying off the 9th and 13th to get there). So the closing chord is actually starting on a Dm (which is also known as the "heartbreak key" or called one of the sadder) instead of a C#m and then resolves stepwise into an A major chord.

Anyway, I always picture someone on a comedown from drugs in the big city when I hear chord changes like that. The tension's really interesting and these tricks are more popular in 80s soul and rock. Don Henley's "New York Minute" is a good example of a song that does similar things in my mind.

Apologies if I'm missing something, my music theory is a little rusty.

This album rules. Sex’n’B in the vein of the Isleys, Teddy Pendergrass, etc. has been lacking in recent years and this delivers it in spades.

    1) this album is amazing and will most definitely be in my top 25 for the year

    2) I thought Bruno was about to pull out some whistle notes like Mariah & Ariana on Put On A Smile haha
