I was waiting for them to be postponed/canceled, I do felt it is too soon for a tour after a core member of the band passed.. But I was really surprised when they released a statement today saying they will go on with the tour. It feels wrong.
I don't think so. Everyone grieves in their own way, there's something to be said for celebrating his life and work by continuing with their already planned obligations. No one has the right to tell them they're wrong for doing this.
That’s what my mind went to also. I felt like they were still gonna do the tour as a way of honoring him. Playing music is also a way of healing
SOAD, Deftones, AFI, Evanescence, Underoath doing DTGL, She Wants Revenge, Power Trip, Dying Wish, Deafheaven, Superheaven, Knocked Loose, man
Lineups are fun but pretty much a rehash of 23 and 24. A couple cool additions like Cypress Hill and Failure Not sure if I’d travel for it, but it’s cool. I’d going it were closer to me
idk I'm like 45min from TX Motor Speedway so travel/hotel wouldn't be an issue, but do I really want to pay $300? probably not
Im like sooooooo close in going for it. I like system and Korn better but the October texas date is more convenient
To see some of these bands individually at their own headlining concerts, you may be paying upwards to $50 to $100. Some of them as of late only seem to do festivals now. I think Texas is the better day. If I was doing a cost analysis for myself, this is what I personally value each set Full Sets (if they didn't overlap, which is unlikely for some of these) System of a Down - $75 Deftones - $65 Glassjaw - $35 Alien Ant Farm - $30 (I really love them a lot, so this value is not objective at all) Deafheaven - $25 Superheaven - $25 Underoath - $20 Partial sets (3-4 songs minimum) Knocked Loose - $15 (I'm not a fan of mosh pits, so I would likely be in the way back watching from somewhere safe, lol) AFI - $10 P.O.D. - $10 Evanescence - $10 Orgy - $10 Failure - $10 The rest, I'd pay $5 to see 1 or 2 songs for each of them
Yeah I hear ya but a festival set isn't the same as a regular headlining set (outside of the headliners) BUT tbh if Acid Bath were playing the TX show that'd probably be the tipping point for me since their tickets are like $90 on their own. Edit: I guess if I think of it as a $100 hardcore fest and then $200 for the 3 headliners it's justifiable.
I truly am curious how many more zeroes System of a Down asked for this time around since it was painfully obvious the festival doesn't sell out without their involvement, as last year's cancellation proved ...
This year was a big meh so going to skip. Not really a korn or system fan, and the undercard is underwhelming to say the least. I don't really get the appeal of composers at these fests and yeah, a lot of bands I've never heard of to be honest. I was expecting a lot more, but it seems to be well liked in general. I just want a good reason to go back to Vegas and sadly this isn't it.
The undercard doesnt blow my socks off but system is the biggest and probably only band I've never seen before live that I like. Im gonna do texas. I get an afi set. My wife loves system so if anything the unappealing undercard will allow me to actually stay with her and not go into pits haha
