FYI the Friday the 13th set is up now without posters

Do you know if the set will include digital copies as well? I haven’t seen anything mentioning if they would be included

 

nah, we don't have digital rights, just physical.

 

Alright. Will the first 4 films be on 4K BD or standard Blu-ray Discs?

If they were separate 4K releases then they would need to be on their own 4K disc. The Scream Factory announcement said this is a 16 disc release and specified what was on each disc - none of the discs are standalone 4K discs.

To clarify the 4K announcement...they are 4K remasters taken from the negative print, which is common with SF releases in today’s age. It’s still pressed onto a BR-50 disc, but it’s not full HDR 4K - it’s more/less a 4K remaster cropped onto a Blu-ray disc. You’re still gonna see a difference in quality but it’s not full 4K

I typically don't, but I have met him before! Nice dude for sure. For reference, my counterpart works on 90% of the horror releases whereas I will cover a lot of comedy, drama, documentaries, television etc.

 

So you basically work more for Shout than Scream? Is that how it works?

 

I mean technically if you want to put it that way, but we're just a single 60ish person company called Shout Factory that has different sub-labels for genres, there's not any actual separation except on the consumer front. Everyone has a part in all parts, just because we're a small studio. I do manage all the modern Scream films from IFC though.

 

Appreciate you clarifying that one. I knew it was all one big company but I thought Scream was separate. I think it’s so dope what you do...I would freaking love to work for that company!

Picked up the Critters box last night since FYE had it for $39.99 after my club discount. Been watching all morning, just started the third film now. This is a really rad set (all the covers are reversible too...didn’t realize these films had two posters each haha)

 

I’m hearing over at Blu-ray.com that Shout’s working on The Dead Zone. Is there a timeframe/confirmation for that?

 

Scream just announced they’re losing the following films at the end of the month (all MGM titles too):

Escape From New York (get your Walmart copies while you can!)
Carrie
Manhunter
Mad Max
Child’s Play (this wasn’t in production for very long)
TCM 2 (I thought they lost these rights years back)

 

we're losing Buckaroo Banzai and Pink Panther Collection from Select as well
