From the beginning I thought the girl on the bus was a plant with that terrible wig. I kept whispering, "Get away from her John! It's a trap!" and then I thought the wig on therapist was so out of place that it had to be fake....and now, now it all makes a little bit of sense?
Now this. This is what I'm talking about. Bounced back from a B-/B episode with a straight A episode. This is the Sherlock we've been missing. Toby Jones chomping the scenery, Sherlock and Watson working together again, a solid and non-intrusive connection to the overarching series narrative, and a goddamn shocking/thrilling ending. Too bad we only have one (potentially last ever) episode remaining now. Either way, it should be a great one. As to the "Miss Me?" message, it's either that Eurus is using Moriarty's image to fuck with Sherlock, or she was an associate of his and has returned for some kind of revenge on Sherlock. Either way she looks to be a solid villain for the finale.
Definitely got Savile vibes from Toby Jone's character in that episode, he was so creepy. Great episode though and so much better than the last, really looking forward to the last one now.
Just to note, the next episode's title is the same as the very last story Doyle wrote on Sherlock and him and Moriarty die at Reichenbach Falls so I think that's a strong indicator that it'll be the last episode in the series
I don't think we should discount the possibility of them returning for periodic one-offs like "The Abominable Bride" in the future. One is easier to do than three, after all. This may be the last series, but I don't think it's the end of Sherlock.
They've said they want to do more but it's hard with Cumberbatch and Freeman's recent film success. I mean, Cumberbatch is going to be in all the Avengers films so his schedule must be pretty full.
Everything seems to point towards Sherlock being the centre of the most convoluted family mess of all time though. How do you follow that up if shit hits the fan next episode?
Hence, one-off specials when they can wrangle everyone, rather the pre-planned in advance series of three. Making one 90-minute film (essentially, these are feature-length, after all) is way less time-consuming than making three.
That was a great episode, I was so afraid they were going to blow it at the end with the therapist actually being Moriarty after getting a sex change or something (sounds ridiculous...but I wouldn't put it past Moffat) Also there's a (kind of ridiculous) theory that there's a secret 4th episode of this series after Sherlock's "they always give up after 3" rant. I highly doubt that, but that would be wild.
I figure if she's really as genius as they're setting her up to be, she knew where to walk that the camera's wouldn't see her. Mycroft asked if he was with anyone and one of the people monitoring them said he wasn't sure, they keep losing visual (or something) and they're mostly tracking him by GPS
I think a more plausible theory to do with that number is that there will be a fourth Holmes sibling (perhaps Sherrinford?)
I hope not. it's already kind of weird that there's suddenly a third we've never heard about, might be overkill to just keep unearthing Holmes'
I'll echo the sentiments that the 2nd episode this season was so, so, so much better than the first. Cumberbatch and Freeman are so talented.
Finally got to watch the newest episode... absolutely fantastic. Like others have said it actually redeems the first episode quite a lot. Can't wait to see the finale, but I do get the feeling it's probably the end of the series.
