Shakey Graves (born Alejandro Rose-Garcia on June 4, 1987) is an Americana musician from Austin, Texas, United States.[1] His music is a cross between blues, folk and rock and roll – he performs at many large festivals and concert venues around the United States. Alejandro Rose-Garcia received his iconic stage name at Old Settler's Music Festival in 2007 after he and his friends jokingly gave each other Indian guide names over a campfire. After an inspired night of playing music, he decided to keep the name.[2]
Family and Genus is being featured in the new Samsung VR commercials. Hope he starts gaining some traction, he's incredible.
Saw him open for C&C in the summer. I enjoyed him but nothing really blew my mind. Seeing that he has some tracking on the forums may lead me to check him out again.
Shakey Graves Releases Two New Tracks, "Counting Sheep" and "Kids These Days" The new songs are great. Maybe my most anticipated album of the year. Also, I just learned that he was The Swede in Friday Night Lights which is INSANE
"Mansion Door": Shakey Graves shares the Origins of his new indie Americana jam “Mansion Door”: Stream This album is gonna be really cool
Album's a bit weirder than I expected but I think I like it. Seems like a definite grower. "Cops and Robbers" was my fave non-single on first listen.
New album is lovely! I've never listened to Shakey Graves before. I hear a ton of influences/other artists, and I think he hones it better than many indie artists do. This is definitely my type of thing
Agreed. All the songs are 6 minutes long and go nowhere. Lowlife is the only one that did anything at all for me. Really disappointing because I still love Can’t Wake Up.
